CNC to Offer Pipe Foundation Program
Prince George, B.C. – The College of New Caledonia is offering a new program that will start in February. In preparation of the demand for skilled labourers to work in the LNG field, the College is introducing a new Piping Foundation program. The program will run for 25 weeks and with successful completion of the program students will be ready for entry-level employment in four piping trades:
- plumber
- steamfitter/pipefitter
- gasfitter and
- sprinkler system installer
Students will receive credit with the Industry Training Authority for Level 1 of all four trades, allowing then to seek an apprenticeship in the trade that best fits their career goals and interests.
“The college has gone from offering only the foundation level plumbing to now offering all four years of the apprenticeship program,” said instructor Dave Sewell. “This will give students the opportunity to remain in the north while they complete their job training and pursue new employment options.”
There are 16 seats available for the program, applications will be accepted until the end of October, with the program set to start on February 9th of 2016.
