Prince George, B.C. – The Northern Bear Awareness Society is asking people to be ‘bear aware’ near Ginter’s Field.

President Dave Bakker says a black bear sow, her yearling and cub have been spotted in the area.caution cubs 2

“A few people have seen her (sow), there’s not a whole lot of concern going on, we’re just alerting people to the situation because we’ve been informed she’s pretty wary of people.”

He says the bear has not shown any aggression, but is concerned because it’s a popular off-leash park in town.

“Dogs can cause problems sometimes if they’re off-leash. We’re just asking people to be aware of it and be a little cautious in the area.”

Bakker says most of the sightings have occurred at the entrance to the park, at the end of Massey Drive.

If you do encounter a bear, you’re advised to stop what you are doing, back away slowly, and to maintain eye contact with the animal.

PG101 they quit referring to it as global warming a few years back it’s now referred to as climate change, allowing for the possibility of a colder climate , maybe.
