Family Fishing Weekend Coming Up
Prince George, B.C. – If you were thinking of going fishing this summer this weekend would be a great time to do so.
“This weekend is the 16th annual BC’s Family Fishing Weekend which means that for both tidal and freshwater you don’t need a licence to fish ,” says Owen Bird, executive director of the Family Fishing Society of BC.”
And as an added bonus, he says those looking to learn more about the sport can attend one of 50 free community events “where you can go out and use gear and talk to experts for some pointers.”
Bird says the event was timed to coincide with the Father’s Day weekend with a couple of goals in mind.
“It’s really a way to either re-introduce people that might have fished before and just have fallen off the wagon or to introduce kids and families to fishing,” he says. “It’s one of those things people often take for granted and don’t realize how accessible it is here in B.C.”
