Kitimat, B.C. – Some rural property  owners in the Kitimat Stikine Regional District will have extra time to pay their property taxes.A system error is being blamed  for  failing to  send the  property tax notices  to  property owners in the following rural areas:

* Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine – Jurisdiction 792 – Electoral  Area A

* Columbia-Shuswap Regional District – Electoral Areas C, D, E & F
* North Okanagan Regional District – Electoral Area F
* University Endowment Lands

New tax notices with an extended payment deadline of 38 days from the  date of issue are being sent out to these taxpayers. The  extension has also been applied to the  Home Owner Grant applications for  these taxpayers.
Those impacted by the system failure will not face any  late payment penalty as long as they pay the taxes  by the new deadline date.
