RCMP Dive Team Joining Prince George Search
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Search and Rescue has wrapped up its search efforts for the day in the disappearance of a 15-year-old teenaged youth.
The boy and another 15-year-old were swimming on the Fraser River near the entrance to the Hudson’s Bay Wetland Nature Park (slough) around 4 o’clock Friday afternoon when the missing youth was swept under water and failed to surface. Crews searched on land, water and in the air Friday night and covered the river to Fort George Canyon and Landsdowne Park by jet boat until 4 pm Saturday without finding any trace of the youth.
SAR Manager Dave Merritt says searchers will be going out with the RCMP dive team on Sunday to work the area. He says details of the spots to be covered by the dive team, and the role Search and Rescue will be asked to play will be known early Sunday morning.
