Chainsaw-Wielding PG Man Facing Several Charges
100 Mile House, B.C. – A 23 year old Prince George man is facing several charges after an alleged assault involving fireman and police over the weekend.
It happened Friday night when members of the 100 Mile House RCMP were called to an assault in progress on Margeritte Road in Deka Lake.
Members of the Deka Lake Fire Department were responding to a call of a camp fire that had been set in contravention of a province-wide ban.
When they arrived they were approached by a 23 year old Prince George resident, who after being reminded of the ban, became abusive toward the fireman and attempted to flee in their fire truck.
The fireman managed to stop the man but both were assaulted in the process. Police then arrived on scene and were threatened with a chainsaw.
Mounties then pepper sprayed the man, who managed to assault two officers.
Two officers and two firefighters were treated for their injuries. The suspect is facing several charges including Assault, Assault with a Weapon, and Assaulting a Peace Officer.
The man’s name has not been released and is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
