Two Arrested for Theft
Prince George, B.C.- Two men have been arrested after members of the public reported suspicious activity around a business in the 4500 block of the Hart Highway near Knell road in Prince George.
Around 3 this morning Police were called to investigate when two men in a dark coloured pick up truck were suspected of stealing lumber from the property.
A General Duty officer arrived to the business within about a minute. The officer observed a dark coloured pick-up attempting to turn onto Highway 97. The driver of the pick-up truck failed to stop when the officer activated the emergency lights. The suspects fled south on Highway 97 at a high rate of speed. The suspects fled the vehicle on foot near the John Hart Bridge.
Police Service Dog ‘Dero’ and his handler were deployed. ‘Dero’ tracked two suspects and found them hiding in different locations. Both suspects failed to obey officer commands resulting in ‘Dero’ being released for officer safety. Both men were arrested and one was transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC for treatment of minor bite wounds.
The pick-up truck was seized. Lumber, confirmed to have been stolen, was in the bed of the truck. Tools believed to have been used in the break-in were also located and seized.
Both suspects remain in custody at least until they appear in Provincial Court today.

- Break, Enter & Theft
- Resist Arrest
34 year old Michael Douglass Platt of Prince George is charged with:
- Break, Enter & Theft
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Resist Arrest
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts)
Both suspects remain in custody at least until they appear in Provincial Court today.
