Local Athlete Heads to World Summer Games
Prince George, B.C.- For Linda Renner, it’s a dream come true.
Renner is a Special Olympics athlete from Prince George, and will be competing for Canada at the upcoming Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles.
A 10 pin bowler, she will be part of Team Canada’s 115 athlete roster and one of 16 on the Canadian 10 pin bowling team.
It’s been a three year climb to the team, starting with a Regional meet in Prince George three years ago where she qualified for the Special Olympics B.C. Summer Games held in Langley in 2013.
She then made it to Team B.C. and attended the 2014 Special Olympics National Games where she won silver and gold medals, performances which landed her a spot on the National team that will head to the World Games.
The 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games will be the fourteenth, and will begin July 25 and go to August 2.

Good luck Linda. Special Olympics is a wonderful organization that always need volunteers to help coach, organize, etc. If you have time, you should contact your local branch. You’ll meet some great people.
