New Fire Fighting Center In Williams Lake

Friday, August 7, 2015 @ 10:43 AM

Williams Lake, B.C.- The  B.C. Government  is providing  $5.88 million dollars to build a new wildfire  firefighting  facility at the Williams Lake  Airport.

The facility  will have a new, 2045 square metre main building and three  upgraded outbuildings.  The  facility will be home to the Cariboo Fire Centre’s main office, associated support services, ground and air crews.

The facility will replace  the eleven structures of trailers  on the site.  Some of those structures are 40 years old.

Lauren Brothers Construction will build the  new facility  with construction starting this month and completion expected by the fall of next year.
Until the new building is completed, BC Wildfire Service staff will work in temporary trailers that have been set up near the construction site.

Good news for Williams Lake.

Wondering what the name change, (once again) from “Wildfire Management Branch” to “BC Wildfire Service” cost the taxpayer this time?

They moved out of the existing trailers into temporary trailers that have been set up, until the construction is complete?

What exactly was wrong with the current trailers they were using that justifies the sudden move into other trailers?

Govt waste of taxpayers money once again.

Dumbfounded here, “The facility will replace the eleven structures of trailers on the site. Some of those structures are 40 years old.”

Do you work in an old trailer?

Have you seen the 40 year old trailers seamutt? I have been in them and they are in better condition than the 27 year old left to rot PG RCMP building that we paid millions to replace. My home is older than that and in awesome condition because I look after it.
