Quesnel, B.C. – Another candidate has entered the fray in Cariboo-Prince George.

Adam de Kroon of Quesnel will carry the banner for the Christian Heritage Party (CHP).

de Kroon is currently working in the lumber industry and is also completing third year studies towards a BA in computer science.

He was prompted to run by the Conservative government’s anti-terror legislation, Bill C-51.

“I think right now more than ever there’s really an opportunity for a real true conservative to join the race, someone who’s fiscally responsible and opposes infringements on individual liberties.”

de Kroon is also pro-life but questions how far it sets him apart from other candidates.

“I’m not sure how much of a difference it is,” he says. “I mean there are a number of Conservative Party candidates as well that are pro-life.”

de Kroon joins Todd Doherty of the Conservatives and Tracy Calogheros of the Liberals as the only nominated candidates in the riding.

The NDP will announce their candidate August 24th. No word yet from the Greens on whether or not they plan to nominate a candidate.

Adam have you ever wondered why there is no Islamic , Jewish , budist , Zoroastrian, Hindu , Wicca , satanist heritage part parties ? It goes back to something you may never have heard of . It’s called the division of church and state or if you like the division of religion and state . There are more atheists in canada than there are Christians . The whole notion of a Christian heritage party running the lives of secular canada is an affront to the majority of Canadians that are not Christians and some that are . On the other hand . Anything that the right can do to divide it’s voting base I’m for . Leadnow.ca

with what we are offered to vote for right now I would almost look at voting for mickey mouse a representative of the rodent party….

power to Adam….
he has the tenacity to at least try….
even though he is facing extreme odds off not making it…

How can a millenial actually be pro-life with the way society is now. I hate the term “pro-life” to begin with. Allowing a woman to have the choice isn’t a controversial subject anymore.

This is exactly why religion is fading into the background in Canada. It can’t possibly keep up with the way our society progresses. It’s much too interested in re-opening a debate that was put to bed 30 years ago.

What’s next on his agenda after pro-life discussions? Same-sex marriage? Women’s voting rights?

Ataloss – your American roots are showing. There is no division of church and state in Canada – that’s an American construct. Our constitution’s preamble starts with “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:”

I find atheists a hard group to understand. They start with the presumption that there is no God, then they attack those who believe in God – which if they were true to their conviction, they would pity those who believe in God, because those who believe in God, believe in something that doesn’t exist.

I personally believe in the great God of DPS Skis. I often worship it, beseech it to keep me safe on the slopes, to enable me to seek out powder snow found by none others. If an atheists is true to his belief, my belief is just as pointless as the Christian’s belief, yet he just chuckles at me, but actively criticizes the Christian. Why get mad at someone for believing in something that you know doesn’t exist?

Atheism is not a belief . It’s the absents of belief . I was eluding to hipocracy of this candidate . I guess I’ll have to be more articulate . He opposes the infringement of individual liberties but wants to control women’s rights to control their own bodies . We as men have no place in the argument . It’s a health care issue that should only be discussed by SHE and her health care provider . Everyone else should just mind their own business .

I was unaware that most atheists were actively angry with Christians as a whole. I don’t really care what anyone believes. Now you start telling me what to do with my own uterus? We got problems. But I know anti-choice atheists. That kind of nonsense knows no religious bounds.

I’ve been an atheist for over fifty years and have never met or even heard of an anti choice atheist . That’s a new one for me . As for despising Christians . Not so . I despise all religions equally . Their adherents I just feel sorry for but I feel the most sorry for their children that have to also leave their brains at the door . Thankfully most religions are dying a slow but steady death .

I discovered them in my pregnancy and infant loss atheist/agnostic group. Still few and far between, but they do exist.

Out of the 4200 or so religions you believe in one, and I don’t believe in any. We are not that far apart.

If there is one group who don’t agree with each other it is atheists. Since we do not accept any reference standard, such as the Bible, Koran, Vedas, we are completely free to form our own opinions on everything. For instance I do not pity people who believe in god, or the goddess if it comes to that. I feel that if someone needs an externally based faith to live a satisfying life, then good luck to them. It`s none of my business. It only becomes my business when they try to force that belief onto me with things like public prayer and the preamble to our constitution, particularly as I do not think there is a supreme god, just ordinary people doing the best they can.

Ataloss – we’re actually not that far apart, but Islam is doing a booming business and filling the void left by Christianity, so I don’t see it dying a slow steady death any time soon.

The problem with religion is it’s the hijacking of faith. It’s a system of control – not much different than a political party – that uses a faith system as the hammer.

One compares the teachings of Christ with the doctrines of his “church” and you wonder if they’re taking about the same guy.

Anyway, I apologize, my atheism comments were not directed at you, I just find it a logical inconsistency. My friend is an atheist and just as I’m amazed he can believe something so complex as life can come into being with no hand to guide it, he’s just as amazed I believe there is a supreme being smart enough to design and implement it. Where I differ I suppose, is I believe there is a God, but as to form, gender, purpose etc., my beliefs are just as valid as anyone else’s – we just don’t know.

And I also feel sorry for religious adherents, who’ve been taught that the loving God, is also a psychopath who will torture for eternity those who fail to believe correctly – I think that doctrine more than anything disgusts people with religion.

Ataloss, I’d like to see your proof that there are more Atheists than Christians in Canada. It seems that the while some organizations may be in decline, others are growing. Besides the Christians we also now have growing Sikh, Muslim and Buddhist populations.
That aside, who are you to even question this person’s right to run for office, hold his beliefs, and actively promote those beliefs?
Just as you have the right to your beliefs, so others have the right to theirs.
Since you are a confirmed Atheist, I will not try to argue the merits of my faith with you, however I will say just this one thing. At the end, after we are both gone from this planet, and not a moment before, we will know who was right and who was wrong!

NyteHawwk said, “At the end, after we are both gone from this planet, and not a moment before, we will know who was right and who was wrong!”

Your statement presupposes you are correct and some part of you does not die at death. If you are correct about that, you may know. If atheists are correct, you will not since you will not have any consciousness to know with.

I was told we all get religious in the last minute of our life.
I will wait until then.

Want proof . Read atheist in Wikipedia . Or any of the atheist sites on line . Most atheists per capita , Norway . Whether you like it or not , the largest , fastest demographic of the religious pie is atheism. An invisible man with all the answers in some ancient book is a really tough buy in for an educated person . You need a really dumbed down population for that to fly .

Atheism in wiki

Ski51, “I personally believe in the great God of DPS Skis”. Hahahaha, on the 8th day god created the Wailer 112….& there was much rejoicing. :)

Ataloss, “An invisible man with all the answers in some ancient book is a really tough buy in for an educated person . You need a really dumbed down population for that to fly .” Personally I do not have any religious belief as far as a creator or god but that belief that you belittle so much does help some sleep at night or get through their day. An educated person? Define education. I know doctors, lawyers, dentists, people with PHD’s who are quite religious, go to the church of their choice regularly, live exemplary lives & are quite happy with their lot in life. You come across as extremely condescending towards people of religion in your posts, I always thought that attitude was the anathema of an Atheist belief. Maybe you need a bit of an “education” as to who believes what & their right to believe. There are not more Athiests than Christians in Canada, you are dead wrong about that. There are not more people that do not believe in a god of some sort than do not, in Canada, you are dead wrong about that. Keep & nurture your own belief system, but don’t belittle others who do not share your views because really?? None of us really know what the truth or answers to the universe are, we can make educated guesses, but we really do not know.

“There are not more people that do not believe in a god of some sort than do not,” should read “There are not more people that do not believe in a god of some sort, than do”. Apologies.

Not picking sides, but I find it interesting that many professed atheists celebrate Christmas and Easter! Perhaps they believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?
