Prince George, BC – Girls with aspirations of taking leadership roles in the community have a great opportunity to learn what it takes, courtesy the YMCA of Northern BC.

The Y is announcing the Strong Girls, Strong World project in partnership with Plan Canada, YMCA Canada and YWCA Canada.  Strong Girls, Strong World is funded by Status of Women Canada and is focused on building leadership capacity and supporting wellness in young women ages 16 to 19.

The Strong Girls, Strong World project will empower young women and girls to become agents of change in their community.  Participants will have access to mentorship from local, female professionals and an opportunity to sit on a national advisory committee.

“Program participants will engage in a variety of trainings and workshops focused on building their leadership and program development skills, and then will design their own leadership program to roll out to local youth”, states Colleen Bush, Coordinator of Recreation Services.

The YMCA of Northern BC is looking for keen individuals to become involved as program participants, mentors and workshop facilitators or presenters.
