First Consultation On Skate Park Announced
Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George has set the date for the first consultation on the proposed skatepark in Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park in the Hart. The park was named as the preferred site by residents who attended the neighbourhood consultation with the City in late June.
The City has partnered with the Hart Community Association and the Nechako Rotary Club on the park idea which has a proposed budget of $500 thousand dollars.
“Young people in the Hart community have made it clear that they want a new Skate Board Park in the area, the only skateboard park is across from the Family Y and it is at times difficult to get to,” says Mayor Lyn Hall. “Feedback from the Hart residents before and during the neighbourhood meeting identified the importance of the skateboard park. Darren Fitzpatrick Park was indicated as the preferred location for the park.”
The meeting is being hosted by New Line Skateparks Inc, the same company which designed the Skate Board Park on Massey Drive. Residents are invited to attend the meeting on Thursday September 10th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Hart Pioneer Centre. The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts about the park’s design and proposed skate park development.

Great idea, nice to see the hart get something for the kids. I drive by the one across from the Y all the time and it’s rare not to see it being used. I am for anything that gets the kids out in the sun :)
I agree P Val, it’s nice to see the Hart get something for the kids!
Sometimes, actually far too often, it seems like the City forgets that the people in the Hart pay taxes as well!
Who ever gave my post a thumbs down please explain why.. Would be nice to know why someone would be against this, it may bring up some points that I am missing.
Hart man… We agree on something else..oh oh..where will it stop ;)
No one gave a thumbs down, you start at 50/50
See, I gave a thumbs up PVal
I live in the west end of town. I am guessing it is a population in excess of 20% of the city…. no hockey rink.
P Val I didn’t thumbs down you, but maybe you someone noticed you’re being a little wishy washy. Today you say ” I am for anything that gets the kids out in the sun :)”
On the thread relating to improving the marking of the “existing” bike plans you said:
“I see I didn’t miss much while camping… What a silly idea with a town with so much winter.. I say ban pedal bikes from all city streets. Problem solved”
So many kids ride pedal bikes in the sun on city streets hard to reconcile the two comments.
Will there be gun racks for the Hart kids to use?
P Val, yes once in a while we do agree on something! I guess there’s hope for you yet, haha!
@hespoke,
Can’t get a hockey rink built for $500K. Also an arena requires staff and has utilities bills, up keep etc. A new ice surface is very expensive. A skate park lasts forever with minimal upkeep. The users of the hockey rink also carry an increased expense; a skateboard, bike or roller skates is cheap compared to everything required for hockey or figure skating.
Ski51… My post of banning all pedal bikes was meant to be sarcastic :)
