Prince George, B.C. – A crash on Highway 97 south ,  south of Buckhorn  Road  caused a back up on  the highway for a time.

Police say a  pick up truck  pulled out on to the highway, and hit the side of a  logging truck just after  7 this morning..

While damage to the pick up was extensive,   there are no serious injuries to report.   A female occupant of the pick up was taken to hospital  for treatment of minor injuries.

The highway was blocked to allow emergency crews time to clear the debris from the roadway and  pull the pick up truck from the ditch.

is that a YRB truck ?

Sure looks like a YRB truck TAE. Another instance of a driver not paying attention

probably texting !

Maybe under the new flashing lights law, she thought the truck would stop or pullover for her.

How the hell do you run into the side of a loaded logging truck?

axman I was kind of pondering that thought myself

I know …RIGHT !!

It’s common in the glance and go method of turning. You glance in the direction of the on-coming traffic and go if nothing’s there. Sometimes it doesn’t turn out so well because you never actually slowed down enough to stop – should something be coming. I saw a lady do it yesterday coming out of the 5th avenue parkade, and nearly got T-boned – she glanced, never slowed, and came within 10ft of visiting UHNBC. Barring a “medical issue” the pick up truck probably just drove right on through.

Now, there’s an old fashioned method – called the stop, look, and go when clear – but it’s has fallen out of favor as many of us have become extremely important with our time’s value almost unmeasurable, so we can’t take a couple of seconds and actually stop.

I’m getting worried about my insurance renewal this year – it’s been a carnage out there.

Ski, that sounds like 15th and 5th turning north on Foothills. A few bucks could be made in fines at both those locations.

Guess it’s because I ride a motorcycle and understand the importance of stopping and looking. “Left, right, left again” runs through my head every time I stop regardless of what I’m driving.

Why hold up traffic for that.

X-it, please consider that firefighters, ambulance attendents, and police need an area next to the vehile to work. In the case of vehicles on both side of the hwy, we are going to need to block the hwy until we can get the patients safely into an ambulance and off scene. Also we need to protect ourselves while we clean up the mess so it doesnt make another incident. Hope this help you understand you delay.

Axman, good on you, that’s defensive driving and an excellent post, wish more would do what you’re doing.

A tow truck and 5 minutes … done. We are getting stupid
