City Readies for “Talktober”
Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George is getting set to ramp up community engagement.
It will do so by hosting five neighbourhood conversations in the month of October – something they’ve dubbed “Talktober.”
Information collected by City Administration will inform the City’s upcoming budget deliberations, Council’s strategic priorities, and the City’s Corporate Plan for 2016.
Mayor Lyn Hall is looking forward to the sessions calling them “a huge priority for this Council,” adding they offer “great opportunities for citizens to give us feedback.”
The conversations will take place once a week from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the following locations:
October 1 East Bowl – South Fort George Family Resource Centre
October 7 Blackburn – Blackburn Community Hall
October 14 Vanway/Beaverly/Haldi – Vanway Elementary School
October 21 College Heights – Columbus community Hall
October 28 West Bowl – Kinsmen Hall
The following topics will be up for discussion: Parks and Recreation, Roads/Transit, Housing and Development, and include a consultation area on special City initiatives currently underway.
City staff will be available at each session for questions with each conversation ending in a question and answer period with Mayor and Council.
The first neighbourhood conversations took place in the Hart (June) and the VLA (July).

Holy Cow! They’re going to listen to Haldi Rd. residents! That should be real interesting.
I wonder if a Councillor who might not like open forums will be able to get a private room set up for one on one conversations. :-)

I am assuming if one is not going to be in town for the one intended for the community one lives in, one can go to one of the others which has an accessible date.
Of course, the real question will be when after talkTOBER we will see implUARY, imlARCH, and so on.
sorry, trying to get used to the new lingo, that last one should have been implARCH. ;-)
hart area ????????????????????
Just hoping this doesn’t become all about Haldi and the treatment centre. We need to move forward and give space for other topics.

They did the Hart in June.
I always liked this idea, my friend that lives in the Hart Hwy attended the first meeting. Despite some format issues, he said that he appreciated the opportunity and looks forward to having the City come back for more engagement. I really hope there is a good turnout on Oct 21st for College Heights residents, its important to give your feedback.
