P.G. Mayor Gets Arrested to Support Fight Against Cancer
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall was cuffed for a good cause this afternoon.
He was arrested as part of the Cops for Cancer Tour de North Jail N Bail event at the Wilson Square Farmers Market.
“Proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Tour de North campaign,” said spokesman and Tour de North rider David Tucker. “100% of the proceeds go towards that, 80% to pediatric cancer research, and 20% to Camp Goodtimes.”
Hall remarked the event is “hugely important for our community” along with other cancer fundraisers in Prince George.
“You tie Cops for Cancer to efforts by the Terry Fox Run and other organizations that raise money for cancer research. It’s one of the most important things we can do in the community as far as I’m concerned.”
This year’s Cops for Cancer Tour de North departs Dawson Creek September 15 and travels through 10 communities, including Prince George, before wrapping up 850 km later September 21 in Williams Lake.
Their fundraising goal is $350,000. If you’d like to make a donation click here.
