Harper Tops on Refugee Issue- poll

Monday, September 14, 2015 @ 4:19 AM

Prince George, B.C. – With the outcry for  the Canadian Government to do  more  to aid  Syrian refugees,  Ottawa  announced on the weekend that it  was establishing a special  emergency Syrian Relief fund,    and  it will match, dollar for dollar donated by Canadians  to a maximum of 100 million  dollars.

The government will  work with  the Red Cross and Red Crescent ,  organizations which already have processes and people in place to  assist those in Syria and some of its neighbouring countries.

So,  250News wanted to know  who you thought would “best address the refugee immigration issues?”

It was  close,  but Stephen Harper came out on top of this  issue, with 40% (575)  selecting him as the best to address the issue.

Close behind, was Justin Trudeau with  34% ( 489) votes,

Thomas Mulcair was third with 20% (294)

and Elizabeth May was  third with  just 6% (82 votes) Syrian $100 million.

As the federal election campaign  rolls on,  the race has become very close,  and  there has been talk of  possible coalitions  should  one party  fail to  gain a majority.

So today, we want to know  how you feel about a coalition government and pose the following question:

If the Federal election produces a minority government, would you favour a coalition ?

Harper may not be perfect, but he and his party have some real common sense approach on things that all Canadians appreciate and value. For the sake of our beloved country, you can not open the flood gates of refugees into Canada without antiquate screening because ISIS will use this to their advantage coming in under the guise of a refugee, who will set up terrorist camps and reek havoc among us.

Ja, its the old scam you put a dollar in and so will the government. We already pay taxes to run the government and country. This tax money includes being a good neighbor to others. It all sounds good but is just another tax.

Mulcair I thought fell on his face when he talked about working with our NATO ally Turkey as his solution to the refugee problem.

Turkey the country that is largely responsible for the refugee crisis by allowing arms and fighters to use Turkey as a staging base. A country that in the fight against isis is massively attacking the Kurds who are our only ally on the ground fighting isis.

Turkey had 50 planes bombing the Kurds in Northern Iraq this last week killing an estimated 2000 Kurdish fighters. The vast majority of the refugees fleeing into Europe are the Kurds fleeing from Turkey as much as they are fleeing from isis or Assad. Turkey is rumored to be preparing for a land invasion of Northern Iraq to kill as many Kurdish fighters as they can prior to the national elections in November for Turkey.

We have politicians talking about removing Assad from power, but the war is against isis, and yet Turkey is using the whole scenario to destroy Kurdish ability to organize their society. Now if the Kurds respond with attacks on Turkey, because its clear isis won’t attack their sponsor, then NATO is obligated by treaty to respond and attack the Kurds as well… what a mess and a huge portion of the blame false on Turkey with the rest of its unholy alliance.

So to then come out with the cornerstone of ones refugee crisis relying on the good will of Turkey seems to me to be either really uninformed of the conflict, naive, or just plain oblivious to reality.

If Canada wants to take in refugees, then we need to have troops on the ground in the source country of either Syria or Iraq, and security for camps of displaced internal refugees who hope to be qualified through legal refugee status. Already Russia says they would facilitate this, the Dutch have said they would favor this option… like it not the solution runs through Moscow and entails dealing with the refugee crisis at its source.

Isn’t it odd to any of you, that you can’t adopt any of these war torn orphaned kids? It’s because they haven’t found a way to make money off of it yet. If they really cared about the people, they would let people adopt those kids… but it’s all a farce.

Any coalition government, no matter what the combination is that forms it, would likely be very short lived. Better to look at what each of the Parties have to offer, assess what it’s going to cost you, and whether the benefits that might come your way are worth what you’ll be paying for them. And vote accordingly. Don’t forget to look at the inflationary aspect of increased deficit spending, or of bringing up the minimum wage to what’s supposed to be a living level. I’m sure all of us would like to see everyone get ahead, and especially those who have to try to make ends meet on the lower end of the income spectrum. But it is the cruelest of ironies to raise the dollar amount these people gross if it only reduces the purchasing power of what they will net even more.

Thats a hilarious result.. just shows how bad polls really are.. Harper hasnt done anything for refugees in all his time in power.

“establishing a special emergency Syrian Relief fund”

And this fund will have what as its objective and who will manage the fund?

Without details, it’s like offering swamp land in Florida. The seller will make most of the money.

For the sake of our beloved country, you can not open the flood gates of refugees into Canada without antiquate screening because ISIS will use this to their advantage coming in under the guise of a refugee, who will set up terrorist camps and reek havoc among us.

A few points:

1) Nobody has ever advocated allowing refugees into Canada without adequately screening them. It’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

2) Do you honestly believe ISIS is going to set up terrorist camps in Canada? Where? In the Peace or the Kootenays, along with some Canadians who like to play militia and do stuff like that already?

3) Retired General Rick Hillier seems to think that bringing a high number of refugees into Canada in the short-term is not only possible, but that any security risk can be reasonably mitigated. I think I’ll take his word for it over that of some politicians who are running for re-election using a fear campaign to help them:

Per the CBC story:

“Hillier acknowledged there are security risks, but said they can be contained. “Doing it quickly doesn’t mean you have to take short cuts,” he said. He outlined a proposal where workers on the ground would screen refugee applicants as part of the selection process. “First, we can go with children who are orphaned, who’ve lost their moms and dads, who are all alone,” he said. “Go with young women, older women who are perhaps on their own. Go with single-parent families or go with comprehensive families, and you’re going to have 50,000 refugees in a heartbeat. And almost none of those is going to be any kind of security threat whatsoever.”

Hillier also suggested talking to the refugees in the camps to help assess the security situation. “Those refugees will tell you anybody that’s different, anybody they suspect of having violent intentions or being a terrorist or being inserted into those crowds, and we can easily do the assessment….

“We’ve got to stop being frightened of our own shadow. You know, we live in a dangerous world. We handle it pretty well.”

Here’s one for the bleeding heart women out there, trying to get all these poor Muslims into Canada :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=5&v=g3pCewp-tW8

– Warning, NSFW even though it’s on youtube the video shows protesters boobies, which I’m sure is shocking to the dullards of this community.

Cliff’s notes for those who aren’t going to click – Two women show up topless to support the oppressed muslim women around the world who have zero rights. The two women are swiftly tackled, and kicked from head to toe, from the lovely Muslims.

The religion of peace at work…

Has anyone read some of these stories in “The New Observer” online media. I am not sure if they are totally biased but there are some interesting points of the danger some of the refugees will/are causing. I am all for trying to save and help those who are in desperate need as I have seen some if first hand having lived both in the Philippines and Africa doing community development work. We all need to do our part. I am excited as my church is in the process of sponsoring 3 families.

Let the states take them in. After all they created that mess.

Mulcair is a hipocrite, because 1st of all he cries over the loss of one child , but says he will pull all our troops out of the fight against the islamic fighters. All that will do is lead to the death and oprphaning of thousands more children ! The world must bring a stop to isis to save these peoples lives.

The world must bring a stop to isis to save these peoples lives.

We tried that in Afghanistan and after12 years we have civil war. We need to get out of the Middle East and let them solve their own differences much of it is religion you cant win.

And here we have harperman trying to make an impression by using individual donations from the citizen. The province of Ontario is donating 10,000,000.00.

Where there is a will there is away NMG. Great plan.
Cheers

Seems to me that Harper and Trudeau were only about 10 votes apart last time I checked on Sunday. Was surprised to see the final result with Harper polling almost 100 votes ahead. But then I gave my head a shake. Those conservatives are pretty slick at running election campaigns. Like the $1.9 billion surplus for 2014-15 year end. Yeah right.

For the Editor: I tried to participate in your poll every day for the past week and each time it did not work. I could not vote for my choice. And I couldn’t see the current results. I a wondering if this was not rigged??????

@NMG maybe Hillier should look at the record, the Tsarnaev family immigrated as refugees in 2002 and 10 years later…almost none of these as Hillier says…maybe an image of Martin Richard would shake up the media. You never have any guarantees even with families escaping a crisis, just saying. Those with family sponsors already here in Canada would be a good start.

Syrian refugee immigration into Canada = big trouble.
