Economy Focus of Candidates Session This Evening
Prince George, B.C. – Tonight, the first of two ‘voter centred’ candidates forums will take place at the College of New Caledonia.
The forums have a different format than those experienced in the past. In the format set for the sessions, voters and candidates will have an opportunity to make a presentation on the selected issue.
Organized by the Stand Up for the North Committee, each session has a specific topic.
Tonight’s forum poses the question ” What are the key economic issues facing Canadians and what should be the direction of the economy?”.
Meetings will start with each candidate having 3 minutes to present his or her views. After this, members of the audience can ask questions of the candidates or can choose to make up to a 3 minute presentation themselves on the topic. The order of speakers from the audience will be determined on a first come, first serve basis (speakers will put their names on a list).
Peter Ewart, of the Stand Up for the North Committee says the ‘voter centred’ meetings “offer an opportunity for dialogue between the audience and the candidates ”
The second meeting is set for October 7th and will focus on Bill C-51 and the rights of Canadians.
Both sessions start at 7 pm and will take place in rooim 1-306 at the College of New Caledonia.

I think if Zimmer is a no show then he is playing a game that he sees as getting elected with no mandate from the local electorate, because he has not made his own views known where he can be challenged on his views… and then by default he can be Harper’s voice to the riding without any conflict to promises made to get elected.
The problem is it shows a complete disregard for the democratic process and the tradition of responsible government.
I think this is an incumbent that has no intent of representing the riding to Ottawa, but rather Ottawa to the riding.
Zimmer told he is safe to stay away and keep mouth shut, banking on voters just voting blindly for him as with Todd… maybe in for a real surprise.
Just because the Stand up for the North Committee has set up a forum doesn’t mean that Zimmer or anyone else has an obligation to attend. Nor does non attendance mean a complete disregard for the democratic process and the tradition of responsible Government.
Anyone can set up a forum, however that doesn’t mean candidates need to attend. Not attending specific forums is a decision made by candidate in a free and democratic society, they are under no obligation to kowtow to every whim, of every group that choses to set up a forum.
The same applies to the rest of us. If we chose not to attend a forum that is our democratic right. In fact these forums are usually attended by less that 200 people which is hardly representative of the ridings they are being held in.
Most people will make their voting decisions without the help of these forums.
Over 95 % of the harperettes have been whipped into silence . No debates and no media . This comes from the tfw from down unda , Lynton Crosby the race baiter but he just lossed his other pet tony abbot his job . Hopefully he will be just as effective for Stevie the fear monger . He calls himself ,The wizard of oz . People that know this slime ball call him , the lizard of oz . I wonder how many millions the cons are paying him .
No Palopu . For Bobbie it’s not a matter of choice . He has been whipped into silence by Stevie . He has chosen stevie over his riding , Canadian tradition and his free will . How could anyone vote for that ? CPC , the party of NOPE .
Also Palopu . This bs about the numbers in attendance is also disingenuous on your part as you know darn well that the FREE press is also in attendance and that’s the biggest fear of stevie . Has a bit of a multiplying affect , don’t you think ?
If the conservative candidates are relying on door-to-door, I wonder if they specifically pick known conservative supporters. Preaching to the choir? In an open forum such as the one tonight, no telling who might turn up to challenge their views. As I have stated before, I find forums a good way to listen to candidates and project how they will be able to represent our region if they get elected. No attend, no vote for them.
Albatross wins with 3 golden hands out – the coveted loopy left Girl Guides ‘somebody owes me something’ badge. Using piercingly witty tags like ‘harperettes, bobbie, stevie, etc.’ the big bird reveals itself as a master of the language, and a careful observer of the regional political landscape. Fly along Albatross – go wrap yourself around some other taxpayer’s neck. Take your flock of self-entitled public sector workers to a different corn field – you won’t find any sustenance (or respect) in a place like northern BC, where people work hard to learn an honest living in the backbone industries that support this country.
