Prince George Welcomes the World
Students from all over the world celebrate on the steps of City Hall – photos 250News
Prince George, B.C.- They come from Korea, Japan, Sweden, Germany, India, Saudi Arabia and a dozen other nations. They are students, who have come to Prince George to learn and to experience life in this Northern B.C. city.
For the 6th straight year, the City of Prince George has put out the welcome mat, providing the venue for a welcome to P.G. Party for these students.
With 70 students here under the banner of Shecana International, and another 130 more studying at CNC, all were invited to mingle and party on the steps of City Hall. With Save On Foods providing the hamburgers and the City providing tours of City Hall, students were welcomed with music, food and dancing.
Many chose to pose with a Mountie and the RCMP mascot ( see photo at right) , while others waited for a piece of the special cake that was given the official cut by Mayor Lyn Hall, Trevor Lutz of Scotia Bank, and reps from UNBC and Save On Foods. ( photo below left). In his welcoming remarks , Mayor Hall credited the students with boosting the City’s economy and its cultural diversity.
