Prince George, B.C. – Thousands of hockey fans have flocked to CN Centre for day two of Vancouver Canucks training camp.
During this morning’s training session, Northerners saw a mix of young and veteran players run through a variety of on ice drills, including the Sedin brothers, Dan Hamhuis and 2014 first round pick Jake Virtanen.
GM Jim Benning says the rookies have been looking forward to this.
“The young kids are nervous but this will be good to get on the ice and burn off some of that energy.”
Andy Beesley, VP of business for the Prince George Cougars, says the Canucks have been “wonderful” to work with and encourages people to come out and watch.
“I got asked if we would have preferred an exhibition game and my answer is this is ten times better than an exhibition game,” he says. “An exhibition game lasts two hours and this is three days not only to watch the players in action but also to get up close and meet them.”
Outside CN Centre today Fortis BC is hosting a Party in the Parking Lot which includes games and food trucks.
Earlier this morning Save-On-Foods held a pancake breakfast with all proceeds benefiting BC Children’s Hospital.

Just look at the flocks.
Why is it so empty? Did they really sell out or did they just give the tickets away?
All tickets were purchased. Approximately 16,000 tickets over the three days! Both Saturday & Sunday sessions are sold out. There are many thousands of people at the arena….thousands on the concourse, tons of people in the outdoor party area, and fans wandering in and out of the actual arena all day. It’s a stunning success. 50/50 jackpot today was over $12,000, and the Cougars and the Canucks are ensuring all proceeds are going to local charities. Incidentally, all ticket money is also going to local charities. So, let’s let the 4 unhappy people in PG continue the negativity, but for the rest of us, this is FANTASTIC!!!

All tickets were purchased.

I call BS on that statement. My tickets were free.
Look at all the negative idiots in the community. An amazing event for PG, for the hockey fans, and you turds can’t even comprehend it being a ‘sellout’ without all the seats being full. yeah, you got your tickets for free… you ever think someone bought them for you first? Nah, couldn’t be.
Why don’t you basement dwelling dullards, head outside and see what this is all about? Or can you pull yourselves away from the Xbox long enough to get outside?
That does not look anywhere near sold out ….. I didn’t go because it was being reported as “sold out”. Looks like someone did them a disservice leading the public to believe it was sold out when it most definitely wasn’t. I would have gone if I had not hear that report and friends would have joined me. What a shame!

I was there and it was nowhere near a sellout. They give away a tonne of tickets that were not used. Pretty much screwed a lot of people who would have gladly paid the 5 bucks.
Definition of “sellout”: When all tickets are sold.
All Canucks tickets were sold.
People should keep in mind that not everyone sat in their seats for all 5 hours. Tickets were in fact “Sold Out” today and tomorrow, which means you can’t buy anymore, does NOT mean that everyone will use those tickets.
ALSO, they were just letting people in after 11, no ticket needed.
Going tomorrow.. Should be fun
I went today with my family, it was as busy in the lot and the line ups as it was in the seats. We sat and watched for a bit but our little one was too excited, so we walked around awhile…that means “empty” seats with ticket holders on the property. I heard Burrows stayed to sign for everyone on Friday and even missed the bus and cabbed it to do so. The 50/50 WAS huge, the lineup for Kirk McLean signatures was huge, all the kids loved the Moscot dance off. All in all it was a great day out! An excellent thing for Prince George, I went, I dont care if others didnt :)

Again, for the slower folks – all the tickets were sold, hence the term ‘sellout’. They don’t all have to be in the arena, are we losing you somewhere?
5$ a ticket, the good people in this community bought up tickets, even if they weren’t going… they gave away a lot of tickets, not everyone went…
Should have just been free, first come fist served…..why does there always have to be a price to let someone else control who shows up? Could have asked for a food donation for the food bank or something nominal….and 12 and under free….to show up and see their heroes or persons they only dreamed of seeing….it is unfortunate that people who can’t afford to see the Canucks are shut out…..
