Prince George, B.C. – Aaron Macklin is Saskatchewan bound.pgcougars2015_1501

This after the Prince George Cougars dealt the 20 year old forward to the Regina Pats in exchange for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft today.

In 97 games with the Cougars, Macklin had seven goals, 10 assists and 202 penalty minutes.

Cougars GM Todd Harkins said it wasn’t easy to part with Macklin whom he described as “a heart-and-soul type of player for us ever since arriving in Prince George.”

He also hinted Macklin got caught in a numbers game noting the team is only allowed to carry three 20 year-old players after October 15th.

With the move, the Cougars have three remaining 20-year-olds on their roster: Chase Witala, Joe Carvalho and Mack Shields.

Their roster now sits at 26 players total: 16 forwards, eight defencemen and two goaltenders.

Prince George kicks off its season this Friday night at CN Centre when they host the Everett Silvertips.

Comments

Classy move by the Cougars. Rather than have the 20 year olds lose sleep for 3 weeks, they give Macklin a fresh start.
