Prince George, B.C. – The New Ice Age has launched a new fan club.

Braydon Ouellet, manager of games operations and promotions with the Cougars, says the idea to start the Prince George Cougars Fan Club was first hatched last spring during their playoff series with Victoria.

“Having to travel for the first two games, there was quite a few fans wondering if there was something offered from the Cougars to travel down there,” he says.

“We’re very limited with what we can run here so we thought obviously there’s an interest from fans so we put something out on Facebook to gauge what the interest was and here we are now.”

One person who was interested was Stacey Osiowy, a long time Cats fan and one of six people on the fan club’s leadership team.

“I’m very excited about the New Ice Age and very excited about the new ownership and the direction the club is going,” she says. “I just wanted to be able to show that support myself in a greater way and I think that’s the same for all the members of the club.”

Osiowy says those wanting to join the fan club can either stop by Section Y tonight when the team opens up its 22nd season versus the Everett Silvertips (or Sunday when the teams meet again), by email at pgcougarsfanclub@gmail.com or by liking the club’s Facebook page.

She says those who sign up and are 19 years of age or older can join the club’s first road trip to Kamloops on November 7.

“The trip is exclusive to club members only. We can take 50 people with us and we arrange the hotel, some of the meals, and the tickets.”

Osiowy says there are other benefits to joining as well. “You get exclusive opportunities to club run events and contests and a t-shirt.”
