Council will receive a report on an asphalt recycling machine that could see crews doing hot patch work in the winter, if Council decides to spend the $175 thousand dollars on the machine. If approved, this machine could make pothole patches done during the winter last longer, and reduce the number of return visits to the same spots.

The thing that always strikes me about these asphalt recycling systems is the air quality that the workers are exposed to as they earn their daily wage. I don’t even like driving by and yet these young people are breathing in this toxic soup for 8+ hours every day. What kind of testing is done to ensure that IH limits are met? Now crews will be exposed to same in winter when we often have zero wind to disperse that crap.
