A bit of a glaring omition . On the myth side should there not be an atheist ? The way it is you’ve just got a bunch of delutionists sitting around figuring out whom has the best invisible friend . If you have an god that is omnipotent , omnipresent and omniscient . There can only one thing . However . There is you . Then there is everything outside of you . That is two things in everyone experience and existence . That precludes the existence of a god . The Devine burocracy , what a scam .

Buzzinga Mars is the only planet that we know of that is entirely inhabited by robots . So what do You think . We gave them life and their very own planet .

Doesn’t it make you wonder though, we are the only planet just in the perfect position that has an atmosphere that can protect us from being frozen to death or going up in flames. No other planet is like that in our solar system. So what does everyone think about this. You do have to not be narrow minded as well and think WOW this is truly amazing.

Truly amazing for sure, but have a look beyond our solar system- think bigger and tell me that “we’re it”… We won the cosmic lottery, nothing more and nothing less.

There are other “goldilocks” planets. We are not the only one. The universe could very well have many other planets that contain life.

So what you are telling me that the other planets have life on them that you don’t have to put on a space suit to go walking around and have other life forms inhabiting the planet. If there is then WOW I’m in my own little world then. But last time I checked NASA is still far from that without having to modify something or adding something that can resort to containing human life.

Buzzinga, I believe that there are probably other planets out there that can contain life, but it is probably not OUR lives. The lives on those planets developed to be able to live in their atmospheres. The life on other planets does not have to be human life, just life. We refer to them as “aliens”. ;)
Therefore, to be on their planets, we would indeed have to modify or add something to inhabit those places.

Well, you bush bunnies are a bit confused when it comes to the God issue. Make trip to our great City of Abbotsford and you will find that God is alive and well. And we have 40 or so churches to prove it. There you have it you none believers.

Well, man had to be created somehow and I think it was an act of God that started everything so we can live on the ONLY planet (until they actually find another one) that can contain life and the miracle of everything else on it.

Elon Musk claims Mars can be made hospitable. Just need to detonate a few thermonuclear devices on its surface. Sounds pretty sinister.

Nuking Mars would not create the one thing above all others that is needed to sustain life as we know it there . A magnetosphere . As Elon being an engineer , it surprises me that he would trade one gravity well for another . I don’t think that will ever happen . Building habitats that have artificial gravity , water shielding and magnetospheres is well within our engineering prowess .

When we do find life would we call them infidels or heathens?

Rather ironic, isn’t it, that religions which have been responsible for fomenting so many wars throughout history and causing the deaths of so many people are now going to advise on the best way to establish peace. That would be like asking robbers the best way to guarantee security in a bank vault, or foxes how to best protect chickens. It is a total oxymoron, in fact.

this is one of those debates that has been going on forever and can and will continue to go on forever…
and until it will UNTIL it is proven one way or the other…

A good example for everybody to follow would be if those different religions would make peace with each other! Even WITHIN certain main religions there are factions which show disdain and scorn for each other!

I have one request of those on both sides of the argument. Prove it. Whether you are an Atheist or have a belief in the Deity of your choice, you cannot absolutely prove your belief. You cannot offer absolute assurance that there is a God, nor can you absolutely refute the existence of such a being. The best we can hope for is mutual respect for each others beliefs & viewpoints. Unfortunately, if the postings here are a micro view of the much larger debate, we are never going to achieve that.

Detoe44 atheism is not a belief . It is the absence of belief . Big difference . It is not incumbent upon atheist to prove the non existence of gods . It is the religious folks that have some proving to do . Show us the imperial proof of your invisible friend . How is it that we always need some human subordinate to speak for the gods . If they existed they could speak to us all at the same time , right ? But they chose not too . Like Joe smith pulling gods words out of his hat , literally . Some people will buy anything .

Burden of proof. If I claim there is a flying spaghetti monster, lurking on the dark side of the moon, the fact that you can’t prove me wrong, does not make it a reality.

Ataloss, do you believe in Atheism? If you do not you cannot claim to be Atheist, if you do…you have a belief.If you make a claim that such a being as a God or Gods does not exist you most certainly have the obligation to prove or defend your viewpoint.

Detoe . Again . Atheism is the absence of belief in deities . Put simply , it is not up to me to prove , unseen , that you have something in your pocket that you have said you have . Ataloss, I know what Atheism is but you cannot have it both ways. Why would you want an Atheist on the panel referred to in the above article? If you simply lack belief in a God or Gods, why would you care what others believe or why would you want to have your point of view expressed? Logic dictates that you have a belief system that you want to express & impress on others. If you tell me there is no God or Gods, prove it.

Just to add to the last sentence of my post Ataloss, I would say the exact same thing to those who express belief in Theism…prove it.

Of course God isn’t real.. He was invented to keep stupid people under control.

If Adam and Eve were real we would all have the same DNA.. Since we don’t there is fact we didn’t all come from two people..

Sorry Ataloss, we do not have the engineering ability to create artificial gravity. That is why they still have to float around the space station.

If God, is the God of the Universe and he created Earth, then he could create other Earths whenever he choses. Perhaps he already has created 10,20,30 other earths. Hmmmmm. For him to create 30 more earths would take a mere 210 days including a day of rest for each earth,.

So we have nothing to worry about when it comes to climate change etc; because God would just create us another earth. Wouldn’t he???

Yes we have slinky . Research centrifugal force . I knew about it last century . Sixties I think . They have to float around because it’s research . If they were to do full gravity research they would do it on a planet ,just like earth . That aside they could have gravity the same as here on earth or greater , which would be interesting from an engineering point of view .
