Prince George, B.C. – One person has been taken to hospital with undetermined injuries following an accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle in Prince George this afternoon.
At approximately 2:45 pm a person riding a bike was in collision with a car at Tabor Boulevard and Horsefly Place. Several police cruisers, Prince George Fire Rescue and ambulance personnel attended the scene and one person, believed to be a male, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital of Northern BC. The condition of that patient is not currently known.
Traffic southbound on Tabor was detoured after both lanes of that road were blocked off at Horsefly.
Police are investigating.

Hope the male is ok
Instead of painting lines, they shoulda used the money to reinforce the rules of the road for bikers
@Stillsmoking, what assumption are you basing your suggestion on?
He was unsupervised and not wearing a helmet.. lucky he only received a broken leg…
After all the and effort put into the creation of clearly identified bike lanes one would not expect to see a scene like the one shown in the first picture! Sure hope the bike rider will recover! Who was at fault?
After all the money and effort…
That’s a high volume intersection for foot and bike traffic with a not very well marked crossing. It feeds from the path behind the apartment building that feeds from basically half Foothills subdivision by pathway when making ones way towards Spruceland.
I wonder if the kid had good brakes because its a good downhill run leading up to that spot… if that is the direction he came, which by the picture would fit the profile.
his parents should be charged for no helmet
all this speculation, and mostly blaming the bike rider. there is an cross walk in the picture, he could have been walking his bike, so no helmet would be needed. why blame either side, it is an accident, lets be thankful the driver stayed at the scene, and that the little boy is not hurt worse than he is.
pgguy, you have to laugh when there’s very little info and the tangents posters take off on. The frustration I have is the media tells us about an accident, but no follow-up on the cause. I realize some of these investigations can be complex, and will take some time. If they did I think it would help folks to understand, as well as educate some.
From what I understand (as told to me by the driver..) is that the kid came launching out of the side street so they slammed on the brakes and skidded into him. P Val is right, he was not wearing a helmet and came away with only a broken leg, extremely lucky if you ask me. I would argue though, even knowing the driver, that speed would’ve been a factor as approaching a cross-walked intersection you should be ready to stop in time for someone darting out thinking they have the “right of way”, although hey! These things happen, that’s why they’re “accidents.”
Only a broken leg with no helmet is lucky and the driver is traumatized from hitting a child. I hope they both recover completely from this event.
