One Dead, One Injured in Fort Fraser Crash
Prince George, B.C. – One person has been killed, another seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 16 west in Fort Fraser.
Sgt Al Steinhauser with North District Traffic Services says from the accident scene that two people were in a car that left the highway at Telegraph Road within the Fort Fraser township and slammed into a power pole. A male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who has not been identified as being male or female, was transported to hospital in Vanderhoof with serious injuries.
Sgt Steinhauser says the accident occurred at 2:36 this morning. He adds that speed and alcohol are suspected as contributing factors. Both occupants of the car are northern residents but their home towns have not been released.
The accident has closed Highway 16 west until at least one o’clock this afternoon. An alternate route is available for light passenger vehicles but transport vehicles are being stopped in both directions on the highway.

Total horsecrap for a major highway to be closed for that length of time for a single car crash where alcohol and speed are suspected.
Onefinger your living proof “you can’t fix stupid “
It’s called a criminal investigation Onefinger. And it requires a total reconstruction of the scene. Maybe you would not be so naive if it was YOUR deceased family in the vehicle, and the road closure was to gain evidence to convict THEIR killer.
BaldEagle: Good response!
The driver lived, the passenger died. This is now a criminal matter which requires a full investigation and preservation of evidence. After the driver gets out of hospital jail might be the next stop. That’s why the highway stays closed.
the vehicle left the road and highway is still closed??!! – trucker hubby stuck there since this morning along with HUNDREDS of other trucks and steaming mad drivers – this is ridiculous – hubby should have been home by now – now he’ll be lucky to make it before the sun goes down – really feeling for those boys right now
This site should be called 250complainers.
I wonder how loud the complainers would yell if it was their loved one who died and the court case was thrown out of court or insurance wasn’t settled because the investigation was rushed and/or information missed at the scene?
Someone died, I think you can be a little patient. Contrary to what you may have been told by your parents, the world does not revolve around you.
