Wow. Almost 7am and I’m the 1st post. What has happened to Eagleone and his 37 paragraph rants? Happy Friday everyone!
I suspect that some are sleeping in and charging their batteries so that we can be inundated with another day of foofaraw.
With a little over a week to go in the election its become clear who is in the best position to replace Steven Harper.
The Liberals are the choice right across the country.
They ran a good clean race and produced a responsible plan.
Trudeau exceeded expectations beyond what anyone expected in a tough crowd for sure.
Trudeau is more than ready and he is the guy to replace Harper!
get out and vote
Joey Tomato. What a crock. Trudeau has Paul Martin hanging on one shoulder and Jean Chretian on the other. These are yesterdays men.
I sincerely doubt Trudeau has a mind of his own.
In any event don’t count your chickens before they hatch. This election is just getting started.

If Paul Martin was indeed involved I would consider voting Liberal. However, the prospect of having a spoiled rich kid running the country is very distasteful.
So now we have Harper directing the PMO to vet Syrian refugees even after they have been cleared by immigration Canada and the UN. Remember Duffy and how everyone in the PMO new of the scheme to pay back the money except Harper. If you believe that I have a bridge for sale.
Harper negotiates a new trade deal but will not release details.
You could replace Harper with Putin and not notice the difference.
Why does everybody dislike Jean Chretien so much? Of the recent Prime Ministers, he is the one I think I would most enjoy having a beer with.
Palopu says “this election is just getting started”.
Oh goody ! How many more lies can Harper and Doherty feed us in the next ten days ?
Vote Conservatives
We were out this week getting firewood for the winter and noticed something different. As soon as the the started cutting blocks both of us starting coughing. We are non smokers. Anyone else have this happen? We’re cutting standing dead trees.
How many more lies can the Conservatives feed us in the next few days?
It will be an all out last effort with ad hominem attack ads and false accusations! Standard American style foofaraw.
I applaud the Liberals for having taken the high road by not participating in the attack ads method of attempting to diminish their opponents!
Canadians are concerned about the economy, jobs, education, infrastructure, human rights, healthcare and other issues that affect their daily lives!
Ten years of mean spirited disrespectful government are more than enough!
Mebbe! Just maybe that we should first check where and how the various political comments – on the other guy – first came from. Could it be that the Syrian refugee comments came from ‘and was manufactured’ by a disgruntled federal employee in the Immigration department?
On the other hand, can we afford an open door to the thousands upon thousands of refugees, and pretend refugees, that want to join us here in our land of opportunity?
Think about that folks, before you join the refugee bandwagon. We may just get what we demand and/or ask for – and then what? We then pay the bills; big time! Hey we, the middle glass, will again be in a ‘poverty’ situation. So what do we do about that, Justin? And Tom?
harper fears the Voter…And Papapoo if you would wish 4 more years of harper on us,so you find it Morally exceptable to LIE-STEAL-CHEAT…ya must have taught yours well..And they are NOT Conservatives…..by along shot!!C-R-A-P-P-E-R-S……CHRISTIAN-REFORM ALLINCE-party…..remember??mailroomboy cum politican..to funny……
Liberals have zero chance in the Cariboo-Prince George riding. If you want to get rid of the Cons, hold your nose and vote for Trent Derrick and the NDP. I saw a poll this week that predicted he’s less than 5 points back. The Liberal candidate was over 20 points behind the Conservative candidate.
And the POLES saw NDP sweeping Alberta..rite…just get out and VOTE NO more harper and crew……
What a bunch of ****!!!! People shut up. and go vote TODAY, Lets just vote, No more Bullshit from the misinformed people, myself included.

With all due respect, who are you to tell me to shut up and go vote! I have enough information based on the past to have made my personal decision that I actually MUST go and vote and who to vote for!

I met justin a number of years ago and he is not all the negative things people say. He is however a gen X so he is used to that kind of BS from boomers and gen y. Lets face it he is not that young or inexperienced.
How many more times are they going to move & re-pile the dirt at the south end of the new Boundary Road? I’m sure over the past few years that they have relocated dirt piles a dozen times and still no sign of anything getting built there. Lots of infrastructure, but no development.
Axman: “If Paul Martin was indeed involved I would consider voting Liberal. However, the prospect of having a spoiled rich kid running the country is very distasteful.”
Well, just because you had well-to-do parents does not automatically mean you are spoiled! He is a family man, devoted husband and father! As to the rich part: At least he would not be tempted to take one hundred thousand dollars in a brown paper bag under the table!
One more thing: He will restore the healthcare funding that genuine refugees are entitled to under Canadian Law, just read the latest The Lancet and find out how healthcare for refugee men, women and children has been interfered with by the Harper Government.

And people say there is no job creation.
Is anyone else tired of hearing the same old one track lines from Trudeau & Mulcair?
Stephen Harper this, Stephen Harper that, What he said, What he did, What he didn’t do, blah blah blah.
I think that Messr’s Trudeau and Mulcair are intelligent men, why can’t they run a more positive campaign? I cringe in disgust every time I hear one of those two boobs rattling on ad inifinitum about Mr. Harper.
As for Harper, not my favourite person for sure, but probably the best choice of the 3 available (oops, 4 available sorry, forgot about Ms. May)
metalman.
Did you just imply that mr harper runs a clean campaign. I think I just pissed myself, good one metalman.
We attended the Annual Antique and Collectables Fair, a lot of volunteer work goes into putting this event on and lots of people get enjoyment out of it. The Evening of Pink is no more , now its the Paint it Pink, at this event a young fellow won the $3,000.00 necklace and donated it back to be auctioned off for Cancer, good things happen in our City. I just wish our local paper would print more of the people interest stories.
Last week at the BCGEU union building opening, the Mayor said there were more projects that would be starting this week downtown. Anyone know of what these projects are?
Someone asked me if I was a Conservative or Liberal. My heart felt answer: I am CANADIAN (not the beer).
Don’t be fooled into thinking the “other” party is somehow less Canadian than you. You can see the result of such bias in the USA where everything seems to be partisan. Instead we need to be focusing on managing our Canadian identity and way of life.
We aren’t just Americans with healthcare. We are a sovereign nation with our own culture and history. We burned their capitol and forced them to paint it white!
Make no mistake, all elections, but especially this one, forge our Canadian identity. When I was growing up, I was proud to be Canadian, to sing the anthem and know that Canadian opinion meant something on the world platform. We bled for our brothers, and we were the moral voice for west. We fed the hungry and comforted the homeless. Somewhere along the way, little by little, we lost that and you can see the results in the news today; scandal and rhetoric overshadows action.
Somewhere inside of me, that star eyed kid still exists. I hope somewhere in you, that voice of pride whispers to you too. If you hear it, you can’t help but vote. I don’t know which party you are going to vote for, but I hope you are thinking about your choice. I hope you are agonizing over your choice, straining to hear that whisper to bring Canada back to her old glory.
If you think the Conservatives are doing fine, vote. If you want change, vote. If you approve or disapprove of the government, VOTE!!
As an aside, your employer has to give you time off to vote. Think of it as a perk.
What are you waiting for?
I agree metalman. This whole campaign has been nothing but crying the blues about Harper. Much the same as on this site. Harper did this, Harper did that, Harper is a facist, Harper is a commie, yada, yada, yada.
All the BS criticism comes from those on the outside looking in. They are like a hungry kid with his face to the window of a candy store, thinking of all the good times they can have if they can just get rid of Harper.
Harper made it more difficult for those who snuffle around the public purse to make any money. They cant stand the thought of having their budgets cut.
In actual fact Harper and the Conservative majority gave us four years of stable Government, and if we have any sense at all we will vote for four more years.
Those who carp Harper should look up the meaning of a majority Government and accept the cold hard facts that they lost the last election, and will probably lose this one.
What are you waiting for? I’m waiting for the advance poll to open at noon . I’ll be one of the guys wearing an I Voted sticker . ABC
Good comment voodoojimmy. Might I add that all generations need to vote. Its great to see the schools promoting the action of voting during election time. Part of me thinks the voting age should be lowered to 16 to encourage young people to make it a habit early on.
Two more school shootings in the States today. Wow.
Good morning to all my friends in George. It’s a blustery windy day in Abby this morning. We hear there is more wind coming. No I didn’t mean Harper . There is a wind system in the pacific that’s coming our way.
I see the election is alive and moving ahead on 250. Here is a gem that none of our leaders have brought up on the debates that they are involved in.
Harper has sold Saudi Arabia 13 billion in armoured vehicles. And here is the punch line the Saudis support ISIS. These vehicles are built in London ON and to start to kick this around by our great leaders would mean a lot of votes for them. Check it out on CBC’s Neil Macdonald gave us the story.
So have a great day and you’ll hear more from next Friday. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Cheers
Livingonwater: Chances are good if you’re cutting standing dead wood that you are inhaling bark mold (there are various varieties). These spores will inflame the airways and lungs causing the coughing. Consider wearing a particle mask when you’re out collecting and cutting wood.
I’m voting Liberal.
The reasons:
I believe in their platform more than the others. Unemployment in Prince George is on the rise, and I have no interest in letting another conservative coast to victory in this riding. We haven’t had a strong MP here for 30 years. The conservative plan has not helped our region in the long term. Everything they’ve done seems to be a band-aid approach.
Leadership. I don’t believe a word that comes from Harper’s mouth, and I’m not interested in a leader that accepted ignorant decision making by scraping the long-form census. Mulcair is not inspirational, and I can’t see him as PM. Trudeau is the only option for this election IMO.
Finally, local representation. I don’t feel I’m selling out my values supporting the Liberal party by electing Tracy Calogheros. She has been nothing but impressive this entire election. She is well educated, well qualified, and has a proven track record. Regardless of party lines, she’s clearly the strongest individual candidate in Cariboo-Prince George.
pgjohn. Thats why there is a Liberal party and NDP party and Conservative. To give people a choice on who they support. Seems this area felt good about supporting the Conservatives for the past 20 years.
Not sure how well Tracy or the NDP candidate would look after this region if the Conservatives get elected Federally and our member is in opposition. We had that scenario in this area for many, many, years.
Be sure you know what you are voting for before you make the big (x)
Palopu, how has this strong conservative support helped our region?
First, we elected Harris while he wasn’t even official opposition. So your point about fearing having a representative not in govn’t is invalid. Clearly the riding hasn’t had issue with that. Harris wasn’t even in govn’t until 2006. At which time, he continued to coast in the same way he had learned to through the 90’s and early 2000’s.
We’ve been a strong riding for the conservatives for 22 years and its been thank-less. Harper couldn’t even attend our Canada Winter Games, despite attending every other games while in office.
To be so loyal to one party regardless of performance is stunning, really. How does that saying go? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me… I’m not sure if theres a fool me three, four, five times. Most people learn before then.
That argument kind of falls flat on its face only a riding or two away . Unless of coarse if one overlooks the likes of Robin Austin and Nathan Cullen . theyve been in opposition for awhile .
Palopu: “Seems this area felt good about supporting the Conservatives for the past 20 years”.
About 30% of the enfranchised people in the riding voted Conservative in elections for 22 years, but 70% did not vote for them. It’s a bit of stretch to say the whole area felt good about supporting the Tories during that time.
Livingonwater; “We were out this week getting firewood for the winter and noticed something different. As soon as the the started cutting blocks both of us starting coughing. We are non smokers. Anyone else have this happen? We’re cutting standing dead trees”. Yes I have had this happen on more than one occasion while building or maintaining bike/hiking trails. I strongly suspect either mold or fungus spores in the decaying wood is the culprit.
So, with all the illegal HID headlights and LED light bars out there on our local hwy’s why aren’t the boys in blue pulling these idiots over? I guess they aren’t really illegal. Only 90% of all traffic I pass out there on 16 west has them. Imagine the fine revenue that could be collected if the doughnut shops were empty. The new passing lane out at Telechick Rd is great. This morning the cones blocking the new lane were removed but the 70KMH speed signs were still posted. I guess they meant nothing to those that blew my doors off at at least 140KMH. And what about the new signs east bound that say “Yield to Oncoming Traffic”? Dipstick passes me with oncoming traffic right on top of me. Won’t be long and there will be many more roadside memorials posted along there. Bet there are a few this weekend.
Gotta love the woodburning heat systems that are advertised on billboards along our hwy’s claming to eliminate you heating bill. Does someone deliver free firewood and pay my costs for the electricity required to operate these systems? Eliminate alright.
pgjohn I’m kind of with you on this. Party politics aside, we are taken for granted ridings. I know a vote for anyone but conservative in this riding won’t change anything, but if there’s a significant uptick in support for anyone but conservative this time around, the Cons just might take the time to find out where we are on the map. I too was annoyed Harper didn’t show up for the CWG but he makes Leaf games regularly.
As for my MP, I sent Mr. Zimmer an email about changes to the CPP which directly affect my retirement planning – and that of many others, and received no reply. Maybe since the Cons are regularly following these blogs, I’ll post it here and maybe they’ll take the time to answer since this is the one time in 4 years they give a crap about what we think.
Here’s my question Mr. Zimmer. Got time to answer it now?
You can now defer your CPP and the payout increases for each year you defer. Now what’s important to note, is if one spouse dies, the other spouse cannot received more than the maximum CPP for one person. So here’s my dilemma.
If I were 65 today and I died, my wife would get pretty much the maximum CPP between hers and 60% of mine.
Now what if I decided to defer mine for the 5 years and then died. Would the maximum benefit she get still be just the regular maximum, or is it adjusted because I was deferring. Because if it isn’t, then deferring may not be such a good deal if you die early, as you’re spouse will not benefit from your deferral.
To make it really clear, I’ll use numbers. Let’s say her CPP is $500.00 a month and mine is 942.00. The current maximum is $1065.00. That’s what she’d get. 500.00 plus 60% of 942.00
But what if I defer until 70. Then my pension would be 1337.00 per month, except I died on my birthday. The maximum CPP benefit for one person at that time will be about 1175.00. So will my wife get 500 plus 60% of 1337 = 1302.00 per month, or the maximum 1175.00. Or do they adjust the cpp maximum to take into account people deferring. Don’t tell me to go to Service Canada website – the answer isn’t there – and they also don’t answer their phones.
“Two more school shootings in the States today. Wow.”
I wonder how many were killed on this planet today on purpose using a motor vehicle or any other inanimate object as their tool to kill people?
Maybe the police can also catch the mental midget that used to post on this site who would blind oncoming vehicles with his high beams if they did not dim theirs soon enough for his liking.
Federal Conservatives have lost over 3 billion tax dollars that no one can account for. Who you going to vote for.
Why has Zimmer posted an election sign right in the middle of the entrance to the runaway lane for trucks on the hill above Northwood Pulp?

I don’t know. Look it up and get back to us.
Hmmm, I think if anyone blinds oncoming drivers with their high beams before dimming them deserve to be high beamed right back. If you are one of the braindead, (and I’ know you are) that doesn’t have enough gray matter between their ears to know how very inconsiderate it is to blind oncoming drivers because you couldn’t give a shit about others, you deserve to become the receiver of the late early method of payback. You blind others with your high beams expect it right back. If you’d like to get personal about it lets meet and chat.

I think the big difference between a school shooting and a car accident, is no one sees getting shot at school as an outcome of the day. Sadly, we all know that getting killed by a stupid driver is a potential outcome of using the roads.
dumbfounded
I took your challenge to visit a truckstop this week. As I was down south again and was not sure where to find such an establishment there I asked for directions and was soon on the way. In no time I arrived and sure enough there they were all sitting around on their well calloused backsides, great long hairy arms perfect for grabbing a gear in the Canyon or reaching around the big belly when it is time to zip and buckle. They all seemed to be speaking at once and it was next to impossible to descern what was being said. The place had quite the aroma like daily bathing and deodorant were totally foreign concepts. As I could not get a word in edgewise decided to leave and come back another time. On the way out discovered I had received poor directions and was actually in the baboon house of the zoo.
Not one to give up easily I continued the quest and soon struck pay dirt. The easy to understand pictographs of a cup of coffee, a greasy spoon and a piece of pie left little doubt I had found the proper place. Much to my surprise when I entered it was almost a mirror image in sights, sounds and aroma to the place I had just left. The only visible differences were far fewer teeth and lots of ball caps with the adjustment in the back taken all the way in and then some.
As they were not speaking conversational English I figured I needed to learn truckerese. Already through C W McColl’s intro level…..10-4 rubber ducky and should have all levels complete this weekend(no surprise it ends at grade three:P
Lets get a little clarification on the refugee issue. The Conservatives have been getting a lot of **flack** because of their position on refugee’s. Soooooo. Some excerpts from the Province Newspaper Sept 14/15.
Chretien, Liberal Prime Minister from 1993 to 2003, said Harper has *shamed Canada* with his refusal to open the floodgates to refugees. He called the Conservative Government **cold hearted** and that Canada is now an object of international scorn.
Back when Chretien was PM thee were regular complaints that his Liberal Government was a cold-hearted bunch.
In 1995 for example, the Chretien government imposed a $975 *head tax* on refugees who applied for permanent residence. Ant eh Liberals refugee processing delays and discriminatory rules brought withering critic ism from advocates.
**This Government has adopted hostile attitude toward refugees and towards international obligations t protect those who flee war, human-rights obligations and persecution* Nancy Worsfold of the Canadian Council for Refugees said of the Chretien Government at the time. But now Chretien is the guy wagging his finer at Harper, Oh, how the worm has turned**
Voted today . I’ve never seen such a huge turn out . Everyone else said it was huge . Long , long line up .
Some facts from the same article.
Harpers Conservatives have welcomed more total immigrants, including refugees, to Canada on average than Chretien’s Liberals did: 222,504 a year under the Liberals compared with 254,952 a year under the Conservatives, according to Immigration Canada statistics.
Also a matter of interest. NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair was once a member of a provincial Liberal party that supported eliminating health-care benefits to refugee applicants.
That happened in 1996. Quebec’s Parti Quebecois government was angry at refugee-processing delays by Chretiens federal government, so they cut refugee claimants off provincial health benefits to save money.
Mulcair was a member of the opposition Liberal caucus in the Quebec legislature that supported the move. Who was the **cold hearted** one back then??
The point is the political parties attacking Harper on refugees today don’t exactly have spotless records of moral purity on the file themselves.
Look up the article in the Province if you want more information.
So, once again the pot calling the kettle black.
Long line ups at advanced polls does not necessarily mean a larger turn out. People are starting to realize that they can vote and get it out of the way sooner, and that’s what they do.
The real story will be if voter turn out actually increased. This remains to be seen until after the election.
Does anyone have any numbers about the advance poll in the last couple of elections, how did the advance numbers shape up with the overall turnout.
This might be a good project for pg2015.
Here’s one that you might find interesting.
Advance poll in Kamloops,Thompson,Cariboo in 2008. 3,381 voters.
Advance poll in ” ” ” in 2011. 6,505 voters.
A huge increase in the advanced poll. Winner with 52% of the vote. Conservative.
There were two million people who voted in the advance polls in the 2011 election.
Elections Canada state that a heavy turn out in advanced polls do not necessarily mean a larger voter turn out in the election. It seems that one of the factors for a heavy turn out was a long week-end. Hmmmmm, are we going into a long week-end….??
Palopu so they have now started to release who people voted for.. Must be something new Harper did .. Lol
I did a Google search on what good things Harper has done since being PM.. The only thing I can find is he got rid of the penny.. That’s it,, nothing else.. I did a search on what lousy things he had done since PM and the Internet almost crashed due to millions of pages of his errors..
Geez sparrow, nobody wants to read about your private fantasies here.
Palopu…you are hilarious.. You tell everyone to stop living in the past when they bring up stuff Harper screwed up wayyyy back in 2013.. Buts it’s fine for you to bring up stuff from P Trudeus and Chrétien time in office.. Can you say ignorant hypocrite.. I know I know.. You and your fellow cons hate the truth and really hate facts.. But numbers don’t lie.. But you sure do.
Geez pal I didn’t mean to get you hyperventilating . I don’t know which way anyone voted except mine . Just crazy long lines in a wind and rain storm . Never seen that before . Lots of women . Lots of natives voting as well . Never seen that before either but it does smell like a huge turn out .
Ataloss.. Didn’t you know.. Palopu was at the TPP discussions..well he talks like he knows everything about it…just like Todd ..lol. As for who the people voting in the advance pools I guess Palopu is breaking the law and opening up the vote boxes to see who is getting votes..
A true con… He talks about stuff he has no factual basis for it..just tries to deflect from the truth..
Posted on Thursday, September 17, 2015 by Palopu: “Lets try and stick to issues concerning the year 2015 and forward, and quit trying to find problems in the past.”
Palopu: “That happened in 1996.”
Well, well! I guess in the heat of the battle to come to the aid of Stephen and his minions it is kind of human for Palopu to forget his own preaching!
Totally inexcusable for others, of course.
And , there were no I voted stickers . Stevie took that away as well I suppose .Did anyone get them this #elxn42 ?
The indiscretions of Chretien, and Paul (Mr Dithers) Martin may have happened in 1996, however it is the 2015 Federal election that they are butting their noses in. Justin has Chretien on one shoulder and Martin on the other. Hmmmmm. Who is the real leader of the Liberal party.
Once they butt their noses into the election it becomes to-days news. The Vancouver Province article on Chretien is dated Sept 15/15. Cant get much more up to date than that.
So we are not in the past like most Harper Carpers, we are in fact in the present.
Here is a list of your wonderful Liberal Prime Ministers, and also rans since Trudeau.
Trudeau, John Turner, Paul Martin, Bob Rae, Dion, Ignatieff, some others, and again Trudeau. What a sad, sad, list. Read it and weep.
Palopu, ….why are you not on the stage instead of Doherty ? No, seriously. You have a somewhat reasonable response to every question. You bleed blue at every point and its very admirable. However, your boy DOHerty can’t answer a question and is basically cruising on the thought “you voted for Dick, why wouldn’t you vote for me”. For the first time in years we have some real candidates to vote for. You might win, again, but your candidate in PG-Cariboo would be an embarrassment to us sitting in the House of Commons.
I use to have a page reload blocked for this site, but the javascript must have changed, because I can’t seem to block the reload anymore… its really annoying why they can’t just leave it alone so it doesn’t do that all the time.
So I tuned into the CBC noon talk show today expecting to hear the partisans try to sell their platforms on the first day of advanced polling.
They have the first half hour on a provincial issue of new drivers, and the second half hour on baking a pie. And one wonders if they even know their is an election going on.
I always thought he idea of the CBC was to inform Canadians about the issues so we can have an informed electorate that goes to vote? Its just disappointing to see the CBC take no pride in our democracy by diverting peoples attention away from it at the most critical time.
If people want to talk about ‘new drivers’, or ‘how to bake a pie’, then I suggest the CBC tell them the election will be over in ten days and suck it up until then. Its part of the cost of living in a democracy that people should have to put up with it until the election is over.
Has anybody noticed that Harper and the separatists are in collusion to deny people the right to wear head coverings for socio-religious reasons. At the very least, they both say they will ban it in some circumstances. I recall some comments by Harpers mob about other parties and separatists a few years ago when he ran away from parliament because hw as frightened of being defeated in the house. How hypocritical, hate separatists then, agree with them now!
I just can’t see how people can support Harper. The man has no ethics. None what so ever.
He supports the Saudi’s in their war crimes in Yemen with a $13 billion dollar arms deal to support the Saudi’s, who not only carry out war crimes on their neighbors and domestic foreign laborers, but also fund isis in their war crimes in Syria and Iraq. Not only that but he privatizes the Canadian Wheat Board to a Saudi sovereign state fund.
Harper tells us he knew nothing of of the Mike Duffy deal, and yet almost every Canadian with a brain knows he is flat out lying to us. The guy is such a good liar that he even convinces himself of his own lies.
Then we find out he is personally vetting refugee claimants on the basis of which ones he can use for photo ops… something that is way beyond his job description and completely unethical.
Harper leads from the closet when it comes to a whole host of issues… his war on terror, when is he going to come clean on what Canada’s role in Iraq and Syria is where he has our air force committed. He will not say a word on this during the election and is waiting to hear from the American’s what his next move is. Its unacceptable to have a Canadian leader that allows our troops to twist in the wind while Harper looks to see which direction the wind is blowing. We need a leader that can explain what is the exit strategy, what are the goals, and what are our measuring stick for success. We don’t have that with Harper, its all secrecy on a need to know basis.
And the whole fiasco with supporting the Ukraine coup, which sent that nation on a death spiral that has lead to millions displaced from their homes and mass atrocities to civilians is something Harper owns and should be held responsible for.
And then we have this TPP scenario where he does deals in secrecy, surrenders Canadian free enterprise sovereignty, and then tries to divert the attention of voters from his backroom deal by raising the niqab issue to bring out the racist tendencies in people floating a hypothetical scenario of banning federal workers from wearing the niqab at work… problem is the union for federal employees is not aware of any federal employ that wants to wear a niqab at work, nor any past incident of a federal employee making such a request… so the whole controversy is a contrived controversy to distract voters.
I just find it really sad that Canada has a leader that treats Canadians and those who he would ask to vote for him… with such disdain for our national dignity.
I really do hope people get out and vote, but vote for someone that can help bring some level of dignity to Canadian politics rather than the gong show that is the Harper government.
I hear they had 50 foot waves in Hectic Straight today. The cargo ship that went down in the Bahama’s this week went down in 30-foot swells.
Anyone that tells me plying those waters with a super tanker full of bituman isn’t a recipe for disaster is a fools gambler IMO.
I see now Northern Gateway is saying they will just collect their $500 million they claim is their cost to date for the pipeline proposal, and walk away from it. Makes one wonder how serious they really were with this proposal and what they would have done had a spill taken place (obviously fold up the subsidiary and use limited liability to walk away from it as well). Its probably already moving through the investor state resolution process in the city of London as we speak… only thing is we will never hear about it because the tribunals are held in secrecy and we will only find out when China exercises their FIPA right to be reimbursed by the Canadian tax payer.
They are definitely laying the ground work using the court challenge as their pretext. Part of Harpers plan all along no doubt. I wonder how many northern ice breakers, or old age security payments could have been made with $500 million that Harper pissed away to his globalist buddies through crappy investment treaties with investor state resolution clauses and flawed partisan environmental reviews that were limited on purpose so as to not include all relevant stackholders?

Interesting development on the Syrian war front today. Its a game changer.
Pentagon came out and said their training of the moderate opposition was a failure with only ‘4 or 5’ active members out of the 5000 they trained. The rest all went over to the side of isis with their American supplied gear to fight Assad the enemy of their enemy (they are all Sunni after all).
Four or five active members sounds more like a terrorist cell to me… at a cost to American tax payers of a half a billion dollars.
The Russians are not as dumb as our media would let us believe. What is in it for Russia they ask? Why would they attack the American, and CIA, Mossad trained ‘assets’ in Syria rather than isis?
Well isn’t it obvious the Russians wised up to the rat line of arms and fighters that America supplied through Ukraine and Georgia in the Syrian front with Turkeys help. Buzzing and lighting up Turkish fighter planes this last week was a message in and of itself.
By taking out these fighters, backed by the neo-cons (that are in a knot over this), the Russians are able to show these Free Syrian Army types they are nothing but puppets for America and America will not defend them… furthermore by delegitimizing them, through vanquishing their members, the Russians dry up the supply of weapons these ‘fighters’ were bring with them to isis.
Smart Americans are wising up that Russia did America a favor giving them an out from backing the terrorists in Syria, and cleaning up America’s failed policy in Syria. Russia knows this would be a launching ground for a future invasion of Russia and are nipping it in the bud.
So now the pentagon comes out today and says they will no longer be backing the so called ‘Syrian Free Army’ with training and weapons, but rather will be backing ‘any group’ that has fought isis and taken territory from them… wait a second though, does this mean the Pentagon will now be backing Turkeys arch Nemesis the Kurds, or Hezbollah, or even Russia for that matter? Apparently the answer is yes… and this throws the whole Israeli and Turkey, and Saudi alliance into question because it goes to support the very groups these ‘allies’ are in conflict with.
Today was a huge pivot for the Americans, and it was driven from the Pentagon and left for Obama and the political class to accept. The Pentagon doesn’t want to start WW3 so they came to their senses. Obama is so weak he will just go along for the ride.
It would be interesting to see how Harper reacts to these developments… he probably needs a few days for Tel Aviv to digest this latest development.
