Candidates to Gather at UNBC

Thursday, October 8, 2015 @ 3:50 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Another all-candidates forum tonight, this time at UNBC.

Hosted in partnership by UNBC, the PG Citizen, CKPG, and The Prince George Chamber of Commerce, it will run from 7:00-9:00pm at the Canfor Theatre.

It will be moderated by Dr. Tracy Summerville and include candidates from both the Cariboo-Prince George and Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies ridings.

Tonight’s forum will be one of the final chances to hear from the candidates prior to the federal election on October 19.

Are the Conservative candidates going to honour us with their presence?

Will there be questions from the audience?

“Will there be questions from the audience” ?

No, there will not be questions from the audience.

None of these forums appear to be livestreamed.

Obviously they cannot be that important.

“No, there will not be questions from the audience.”

Hey, I don’t make the rules. This seems to be more of a Q&A from the moderator with zero input from the audience. You get 15 minutes in the lobby if you want to talk to a candidate. Probably a fairly safe place for a Con to show up.

According to the Citizen:

By randomly selected draw, candidates will receive a question from one of six topics. They will have one minute to answer without interruption before the floor is opened to the group to discuss and debate.

This could be good! The candidates won’t know their questions in advance and will have to be able to talk ‘off the cuff’ on one topic, and debate all six. This should sort the chaff from the wheat!

Or the wheat from the chaff.

Gong show,
