Man Faces Assault Charge Following Bear Spray Attack
Prince George, B.C. – A Prince George man is facing several charges following an early morning incident in the Hart.
RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass says police were called to a residence on Lehman Street twice this morning, the first time just before 2:00am.
He says officers attended to find that a homeowner had been confronted by a male on his property, though on this occasion, he managed to elude police.
Douglass says police received another call just before 4:00am from the same homeowner who again located the suspect in his driveway.
He says when the homeowner questioned the man, the suspect produced and sprayed bear spray toward him before running into the woods nearby.
With the help of Police Service Dog ‘Dero’ however, Douglass says police were able to track the suspect to a nearby shed where he was finally apprehended.
As a result of the arrest, 23 year old Justin Lee Phillippe has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
– Assault with a Weapon
– Uttering Threats
– Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
– Break & Enter with Intent
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Phillipe was scheduled to make his first court appearance this afternoon.
