Prince George, B.C. – A flag raising was held at Prince George City Hall this morning to mark Rotary Week.

Members from all three Rotary branches in town were there to celebrate (Nechako, Rotary Club of Prince George and Prince George Yellowhead).

John Kason, president of the Rotary Club of Prince George, noted Rotary has provided over 70 years of service to the community.

“Yellowhead has a long standing literacy program providing dictionaries and reading materials to elementary schools, Nechako supports youth but also Operation Red Nose and the Prince George club provides over $20,000 a year to local scholarships.”

Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall, a Rotarian himself, added Rotary is also helping raise prostate cancer awareness and has been working to help promote the Skate Park in the Hart.

“It’s the foundation of Rotary, to provide to communities and be of service to communities. They do an unbelievable job.”
