Prince George, B.C. – The driver of a lowbed unit had an exciting end to his workday on Friday.

He was hauling a small portable trailer and had taken the onramp from Otway Road to head south on Foothills when fire broke out under the hood of his truck.  Prince George Fire Rescue sent two units to the scene as the truck driver and a passerby attempted to put the flames out amid concerns that the fire was about to spread to the fuel lines.

The fire was basically out when firefighters arrived on scene.  Once the action had died down the passerby, a middle-aged man, told this reporter “we just kept pouring dirt on ‘er.   It’s out now.  But it was pretty close (to spreading to the fuel lines).”
