BC Hydro map indicates extent of power outage in the downtown area
Prince George, B.C. – Much of downtown Prince George is off the grid, as BC Hydro is reporting a power outage in that area.
According to BC Hydro, 307 customers are affected by the outage which started just before 4 p.m. At this time, there is no indication of when electricity will be restored.
There are a couple of other pockets of outages in the region, including 16 customers in the BCR site between the Fraser River and Highway 97 south, through to Boundary Road. There are also a number of customers out of electricity near McBride along Mountain View Road. Iin that particular case, BC Hydro is estimating power will be restored by 7:30 this evening.

Here in the Hart, near Kelly Road School, the power just went off for a moment, back on for maybe a minute, off for a moment, and back on.
I’ve had the off – on 4 times now in CH.
Maybe City Council will be meeting by candlelight and megaphones tonight. :-)
It did it again here too – 4 times now.
Five times now.
Twice more now, with just a few seconds in between.
must have drawn the lucky straw on this one……no problems
10th Street, flickered a few times no outage, have the candles ready, I’m guessing no ghost stories tonight. If only I could post a picture of it the clown (movie) and wish you a good night….. ha..heh
good thing it was downtown, not too many people down there anyways.
I see someone has been hard at work hitting the down thumb buttons…
make your night, hit the down button here two…
Very costly for the businesses . Hope they move to having a backup system . Too bad that bchydro only wants their captive market . They encourage smart meters , efficient appliances , LED lights but not backup . A power outage for a business like Walmart and Costco costs millions . They’ve wised up in the states and Europe .
Hydro demanded we all get smart meters and then they don’t use the meters capabilities… ie to locate exactly where the outages start and end.
Almost all of the ‘big box’ stores have back up generators. When they were building the Woolco store, I was an apprentice electrician and was surprised to learn that the only thing that the backup generator was hooked up to was the cash registers.
That has probably changed by now.
