Give a Little, Get a Lot More at Christmas

Prince George, B.C. – The Northern Sport Centre (NSC) kicked off its annual Give a Little, Get a Lot holiday campaign at the Parkwood Save-On-Foods this afternoon.
Since the campaign started in 2009, it has raised much needed non-perishable food items and clothing for the Salvation Army, NUGSS Food Bank and the UNBC Women’s Shelter.
This year $2,500 has been donated by individuals and businesses which were put towards a mass grocery shop today.
Surjit Minhas was on hand after getting the ball rolling with a $500 donation of his own.
“My motto is the purpose of life is life with a purpose,” he said. “And that purpose is live for others, we cannot help everyone in this world but everyone can help someone.”
Afterwards, PG Motors supplied a couple of vehicles to deliver the food to its proper destinations.
“You can’t step away from something like this,” said Ron Gallo. “You get asked to help out with families that are in need at this time of the year and you do what you can.”
Other donors for the event included Save-On-Foods ($500), NSC ($500), and Shawn Stewart ($1,000).

What a wonderful motto Mr. Minhas has. Nice story of people making a difference in our community.
How generous.. Fantastic
Maybe some business might be able to donate a shirt that fits to our City ambassador Scotty, then he won’t have to wear that one with buttons almost popping :)

I am so sick and tired of seeing that pompous windbag all over the news and social media. Has he done anything other then start a Facebook page?
Axman. Have you done anything useful for the city lately? I mean, other than be a pompous windbag on an obscure local news website?
So Summit? ^^^^^ Why are you on this site if you find it so “obscure”? Have you done anything useful for the city as this “obscure” local new website has? Calling the kettle black?
it would be nice of society was set up so that these valuable services were not needed
Pattison rolling in the billions. Glad he allowed you to shop at one of his stores. I wonder what the billionaire has done for the needy lately?
Dumbfounded:-“Pattison rolling in the billions. Glad he allowed you to shop at one of his stores. I wonder what the billionaire has done for the needy lately? ”
=========================================================================
You make it sound like Pattison has a Money Bin somewhere, ala Disney’s ‘Scrooge McDuck’. I don’t believe that’s quite the reality. He holds “assets” that may be currently “valued” in the billions. Or not. Why are they “valued” that way? Largely because they are capable of generating ‘prices’ for the products they produce or distribute in excess of the ‘costs’. They can make a profit, in other words. But what if they couldn’t? What would they, and Pattison’s ownership of them, be worth then? About what they might fetch for some other purpose, if there was one, no? Not likely that would be “in the billions”. So you ask what has he done for the needy lately? What would you like him to do? A lot of the ‘profit’ his enterprises make goes towards re-investment in those enterprises. If he doesn’t spend as much back into them each year as they annually depreciate through wear, tear, and obsolescence, his “assets” are diminishing that much each year in value. If he’s borrowed money from a bank to acquire them, a goodly part of that profit will be going to repay the loan. What’s left over might be distributed to him personally as a dividend. After corporate taxes have taken another cut from it. Will this be “billioins” he can then “roll in”? Somehow I doubt it.
Socredible, don’t feel too sorry for Jimmy, I’m sure he gets his KD wholesale or at a good discount.

I have actually, but I don’t need the reward of seeing my mug all over the news and social media and having people like you fawn all over me. My ego doesn’t need the constant stroking.
I’d hardly call 250news “obscure”.
