Prince George, B.C. – Don’t be surprised when a power outage happens at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. this weekend. It’s all part of a maintenance plan.As of 11 tonight, and through to Sunday evening, there will be partial power outages at the hospital, resulting in reduced lighting and limited elevator access at various times . All of the essential electrical circuits and some of the non-essential equipment will be impacted.
The work will also create a region wide outage of Northern Health’s information technology system including the Northern Health websites.
During this work, Northern Health is asking that people only go to UHNBC if it is an emergency.

Shouldn’t this be the case every day…..

Unfortunately, most people figure they’re entitled to go to the hospital whenever they want. Me! Me! Me!
axman, sad enough there are a lot of people out there that abuse the system. Plain selfishness of themselves, feeling of entitlement.
A lot of people that should go don’t as well.
I wonder if there are statistics on use of emergency rooms for non-emergencies when out-of-hours clinics are open. I’m curious as to whether people are going to the ER because there isn’t any other source of medical care at that hour or if for some reason people who should be going to an out-of-hours clinic are going to the ER instead.
