Prince George, B.C. –  A local theatrical production which is benefitting the fundraising efforts of two organizations is going to be held over “by popular demand.”

Performances of the Christmas comedy Miracle On South Division Street are going to continue until December 13th, one week longer than originally scheduled.  The professionally-produced play is being performed at ArtSpace above Books and Company.  The Third Avenue venue has been turned into a theatre for the production, with tiered seating and a stage set designed by Ted Price.

Producer Anne Laughlin says “The audience response to the play has been exceptional right from the very start, and now there is a real buzz around town.  It would be foolish to close the show as originally scheduled.”

Director Ted Price said that audiences have especially enjoyed the surprising comic twists and turns of the plot, the conversion of ArtSpace into a theatre, and the high calibre of the acting.   “From all of the professional actors we know from across Canada, Anne Laughlin and I cast four of our favourites.  Not only are they offering wonderful comic performances, they are enormous supporters of the fundraising goals of the production,” Price said.

The play’s earnings are being donated to the children’s programs run by two local charities, the Salvation Army Food Bank and 27 Million Voices.   Laughlin noted that everyone is hoping for sold out performances during the hold-over as there is such wide spread support for the beneficiaries.

Tickets are available at Books and Company or can be ordered by phone at 250-563-6637.  A limited number are usually available at the door.  There are performances every night of the week except Mondays.  As well there are Sunday Matinee performances at 2:00.

This is the most original production I have seen in some time and it’s live (!), funny, thought provoking, tear-inducing.. Very fitting for the season. My friends and family won’t be missing this one.

I’ve asked before if PG ever had a comedy scene or comedy festival . I was curious because there doesn’t seem to be a sense of humour in the comment section at 250 . I’m very glad to be proven wrong .

The audience response to the show has been uniformly positive. Everywhere I go I hear people talking about it. I have seen lots of theatre across the country and Prince George audiences are among the best! Generous, enthusiastic, and supportive. Be part of this groundbreaking project – have fun, be entertained, and help support 2 important charities at the same time!!
