Zimmer Acclaimed Conservative BC/Yukon Caucus Chair

Wednesday, December 9, 2015 @ 11:58 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Bob Zimmer has been acclaimed BC/Yukon Conservative Caucus Chair.

It’s the first time that regional caucus chairs have been elected, having previously been appointed directly by the leader of the Conservative Party.

“I am honoured and humbled to receive the confidence of my regional colleagues to continue on as chair of the BC/Yukon Conservative Caucus,” said the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies MP.

“My colleagues and I will continue to provide a strong voice for the region and work hard to ensure that the interests of our region are heard.”

Zimmer was first appointed to the position in October 2013.

Unbelievable, this guy only speaks in vague generalities, so how can he represent the region. Anyone ever hear him speak of specifics as an advocate for this region?

An advocate for this region would have used this opportunity to highlight the need for a new softwood lumber agreement with the Americans, or ensure a free enterprise enabling Ridly Terminals that wouldn’t preclude the opening of some of the coal mines in his riding. These are some huge pressing issues in Zimmers own riding that he is not on record ever advocating for.

I think Zimmer is just a wind bag with nothing to say that isn’t through a political lense designed for the safe consumption of the public on behalf of his ‘smart advisors’. He probably doesn’t even know what Ridly Terminals is, much less its importance to his riding, or that we have serious softwood lumber smack down underway… Until he is told to talk about these issues in some form of safe generality that can be construed to mean anything politically safe for the conservative base.

Eagleone, the Election is over and Zimmer is guaranteed to be the MP fro Prince George – Peace River for another four years at least, and likely for much much longer than that..

So what exactly are you trying to accomplish with your continuous nasty comments about Zimmer?

He is here to stay, the Election is over, just what is your goal???

Is it just that you are soooooo angry that your person lost, likely again, that you just want to be nasty to Zimmer for the next four years?

..Or do you think that your nasty comments can actually accomplish anything worthwhile? If this is so, then pray tell, please let the rest of us know that are puzzled about your continuous angry mood.

Bob who?

“You pick the topic, but keep the comments brief ( yes Eagleone that means you!) and obey the three simple rules:”

= Two peas in a pod

As for the obvious dislike for Zimmer it all boils down to his trip Israel a while ago where it is clear that he got his marching orders from the Mossad. Now he is busy planting false flags on the rat line on behalf of the banksters and zionists in order to advance the NWO. Name is Zimmer and he’s a man-ergo Zimmerman! only thing missing is a yarmukle.

Rhodes Scholar don’t think so judging by day job more like Roads Caller:P

He will continue to make himself hidden, occasionally the press will dig him out of mothballs just for a story…
useless before, pretty much the same now in my opinion.
Still in awe that he got re-elected.

Sparrow, was that sarcasm for the benefit of Eagleone?

Possibly.

I find it hard to understand why some of you are so intent on venting your discontent with Bob Zimmer, while there are much bigger fish to fry!

For example, we have a new nitwit for a Prime Minister, a nitwit who is far too busy having pictures taking with his wife at Vogue Magazine when he should be trying to act like a Prime Minister and do some actual Prime Ministerial work! After all, we have economic issues to deal with! We have increasing unemployment, especially in Alberta! We have a refugee crisis to deal with! We have moral obligations to do our part in the battle to fight and defeat ISIS!

Bob Zimmer is busy working for the people! Justin and Sophie are busy taking selfies and having their pictures taken at Vogue Magazine! Thankfully they have taxpayer funded nannies to look after their kids while they are busy looking for the next photo op!

And you people want to point fingers at Bob? Un-freaking-believable!

Aboriginal issues certainly won’t be his department! Bob who is correct!
He was never available during the election for any debates…very busy!

I think the riding distribution for PG is unworkable. We should simply have one representative for the city. The north can take care of itself and the Cariboo can do the same.

Zimmer is not from here, he is from the Peace and it shows big time. He is simply not interested in this part of the riding. The same goes for a representative from PG having to deal with Quesnel and Williams Lake. The are small towns with lots of rural space between.

The issues of a city and those of rural BC are very different.

I do not know whether Ottawa has any smart politicians who understand that and can figure out how to improve it.

“I find it hard to understand why some of you are so intent on venting your discontent with Bob Zimmer, while there are much bigger fish to fry!”

That does not surprise me. Just because he got elected does not mean he is the perfect MP. He was just the best of a sorry lot.

There should be an evaluation system for MPs. They have to serve their constituents, no matter who they are. If they run a lousy office, then there should be a way that someone who cares can make some changes if the service is lousy.

BUT, that is not how the riding office is run.

Sort of like IPG. Show me your accomplishments, Show me that you made a difference; that something happened which would not have if you were not here. THAT should be the measure of all MPs across the land, no matter what party they represent and what party is in power.

This is all I can find for a position description or terms of reference:

“As BC/Yukon Caucus Chair, Zimmer will chair a weekly meeting of Conservative members of parliament and senators from across the region, and will also chair the bi-annual BC/Yukon stakeholder meetings. He will report the work of the BC/Yukon caucus to the prime minister, and to national caucus.”

Tells me nothing. The phrase “the work of the BC/Yukon caucus” are empty words. Where is the description of what that work is and where can we see minutes of the meetings? I suppose because they are the opposition they might be secret. Maybe they do not even keep records of the meetings. I mean if he reports them to the national Conservative Caucus and to the leader of the opposition, are they in writing or some other recorded medium, or are they in-camera?

I just do not know enough about this system. I hope that the work is co-operative with the Liberal equivalent rather than confrontational. If it is not co-operative, then the people of this country are not equitably served.

Yes notsofast, the election is over. So what is your point? There is nothing nasty about asking for some accountability to the people of this riding.

My point was that this is a man that has spoken of no specifics that he will advocate for for this region. None. He has not come out and explained an issue of importance, nor shown any degree of understanding of an issue so as to explain how he would forward a solution.

I asked for anyone that can point to a specific issue he has articulated, and all I got was polemics on Justin Trudeau, or Zimmers complicity in arms smuggling, but nothing that is specific to this region that can be attributed as an issue Zimmer has articulated on.

The opportunity was lost to raise the profile of issues important to this region. Don’t blame me, blame Zimmer. Maybe next time he will find the time to study up on some issues of importance, and find a way to raise the profile for the benefit of the people he is supposed to represent. Are we just supposed to sit back and be unrepresented because notsofast says Zimmer won the election and specific issues are out of bounds?

It all comes down to being represented to, rather than represented, and if its a crime to object to this as some sort of nasty then so be it. People like notsofast and HartGuy can continue to sing the praise of their ideological hyper partisanship, but the rest of us would like to hear some more from the man that is tasked with representing the issues of our community to Ottawa now that the election is over and his views really do count.

“Zimmers complicity in arms smuggling”

Pretty strong allegation to make against a sitting member of Canada’s Parliament. If Bob gets wind of this accusation I wonder who his lawyer will contact first you for posting it or 250 News for letting post stand as written. Better have the documents of proof sitting by the front door JIC.
