who is ready for the chaos of last 2 weeks before Christmas

Yup I’m proud of it all my shopping was done last week of November now I get to sit back and watch the ensuing panic of last minute shoppers

Is it shallow of me probably but it’s entertaining to watch as people fight over the stupidest things

My only complaint is Christmas is for the kids but why are adults such jerks to children I’ve actually witnessed toys being ripped out of children’s hands, children being pushed out of the way and over by panicked shoppers and it happens every year

You may not see it nor maybe not looking for it in your own quest to buy gifts but maybe time to slow down and take a deep breathe or maybe not and give me shallow entertainment value

MERGE signs do not mean stop and yeild. When is the law going to crack down on drivers for the many stupid things that are being done on the roads.

LOL Big Dog….you must have been behind the moron who was stopped in the merge lane at Hwy 16 and Domano yesterday. When that happens, I lay on the horn until they start to move.

What is with people and their dogs? I was up til one am the other day and I could clearly hear someone’s poor pup barking. It’s bad enough any time but at ONE AM? If you’re not going to take care of your pets then you shouldn’t have them. It’s that simple.

If your dog is outside barking, then they’re bothering someone. Have some consideration for your neighbours and bring them inside.

Merge/Yield-I see this stuff all the time ,it become normal. [Daily work drive 50 k ] Even the school bus drive [s] don’t know the difference between merge and yield – Like how close do the car on the main road have to be ,to the car thats supposed to yield ,have to be.This district 57 school driver should have yield and merged instead – Buy the old Northland Dodge site.But the guy who permitted the merge off Queensway to 97 south should be fired-one would need 600HP to make that one

^^^ Too funny! I came on here to bring up the topic of pet owners who think it is OK to let their dogs bark 24/7. I moved to the country a little over a year ago to get some peace and quiet, but instead I get to listen to dogs bark all night every night.

If your going to own a dog you are responsible for its actions at ALL times. Even if your not home. Be a good neighbor and a good pet owner by controlling their actions/noise. Letting them sit in the middle of the road barking is NOT what a good owner does. You know who you are, take some time and have respect for the people around you. I own 3 dogs, none of which are left out to annoy everyone in ear shot.

I think the big news of this week was Donald Trumps opinion to shut down Muslim migration into the United States; and more importantly the uproar it has caused by the likes of Dick Chaney, Sen. Lindsy Graham, and Sen. John McCain… three of the biggest war hawks of our time. The irony and hypocrisy is so rich considering the demonizing and debasing of human dignity those three are themselves guilty of.

This is an issue of globalists that despise national rule of law lashing out for Trump daring to threaten their NWO agenda.

Myself I think Trump was just opening up a strong negotiating position, which is what he does. Already he says his ban would exempt American citizens, diplomats, and athletes… as well as others he has yet to explain.

So the argument against Trump would be that foreign Muslims have a right to enter the United States regardless of the threat level and fact that jihadi islamists are in a declared war against Western civilization. A policy designed to divide and conquer through immigration.

I think if a country accepts a visitor, that this is not a right of the visitor, but rather a consideration of the country that allows them to enter. This consideration should be based on shared values. Two completely different mind sets where one either believes they are entitled to their way, or one that feels they have to earn their inclusion through personal responsibility.

When one looks at the long history of islamist atrocities that involve a process of forced migrations crisis, followed by an insistence on sharia law, and eventually a displacement of their host culture through violence and a debasing of human dignity… consider that all of North Africa was Christian and some of the most civilized culture on Earth in the 7th century before the Muslim invasion, or how the Turks deployed human migration to weaken and wipe out the Eastern Roman Empire and Constantinople, or the disastrous invasions of India and South East Asia.

Considering the history and modus operendi of jihadi conquest one would think having a higher level of restrictions on the migration of potential islamists would be a prudent thing if one would want to retain the qualities of our own civilization that are not compatible with sharia law… qualities like individual freedoms, human dignity for all including women, and rule of law based society. Canadian qualities should not be ignored for the expediency of political correct naivety.

Trumps idea to restrict Muslim in migration is nothing new. It was official policy (as not compatible with Christian culture) in most western nations in recent history. When the west was at war with nazi’s, they were not allowed to migrate either; even Jimmy Carter that paragon of peace in the American establishment banned all Iranians from entering the US during his presidency.

I think to defeat the threat of radical islam, then a good start is to call a spade a spade and not give it any room for political correct protection. Restricting the movement and freedoms of those at most risk of being sympathizers of what is essentially a disease of morals (that threatens to metastasize if given space), is the surest way to marginalize the influence of radical islam.

Myself I think if we are bringing in refugees from that part of the world that they should share a Canadian view of the world in regards to human dignity and individual freedoms.

I think the genocide of Assyrians from that part of the world (a true catastrophe) the last of those that speak Aramaic, the language Jesus spoke, would be good candidates… as would Druze or Christians of other denominations… but to bring in Sunni or Shia refugees is only asking for future troubles for Canada. Hopefully those selected to enjoy the privilege of being Canadian will be those that have the ability to truly become Canadian.

I think the reality is Turmp will be the next American president and if the 25,000 refugees Canada accepts are of the kind that carry their feuds forward here in Canada; then that will have grave consequences for freedom of movement of Canadians in regards to cross boarder travel.

Time will tell.

My driving concern is those that use the passing lanes to speed up so that no one can get by them… only to drive 20k under the speed limit as soon as the passing lane ends. In the winter this is ridiculous and unprofessional for those that drive for a living, and I would argue is the biggest cause of vehicles ultimately going off the road trying to drive in convoys of blinding snow.

Let people space out and the roads will be safer for everyone involved. If someone wants to drive at a slower pace, it makes sense to let those moving at a normal pace to move along.

I noticed when heading north passing courtesy seems to be the norm, but heading out west or south its like a game it seems from people that just can’t fathom why they should let anyone get by them.

Re: Merge/Yield
The opposite of the merge/yield are the people who when turning left onto a 4 lane street or road dive straight over into the far lane instead of properly turning into the near lane then signaling and changing lanes once safe to do so. If you do turn right or merge at the same time many of them are turning left onto the same street you get the stare down like it’s you who almost caused an accident. They think they have the right-of-way to go straight to the far lane when going through the intersection.

Merge lane you bet, people have to also learn that are on the main road to move to the left lane. Hart is really bad for this.

Bad driving habits are a big pet peeve of mine too. I would like to see more traffic cops and larger penalties for infractions. While it may not be the answer, at least it would put a smile on my face to see some of these people pulled off the road and parting with sums of cash.
Cell phone use, aggressive tailgating, no signal for lane changes, stopping in a merge lane, blowing through red lights, illegal driving lights, dogs in the lap of drivers and excessive speeding are just a few of the things drivers are doing that really irk me. Funny part is that list is pretty much what I seen on my drive to work in one day. Yesterday I witnessed a lady driving in a minivan with children on alippery streets who had a coffee in one hand, cell phone in the other and steering with her elbow. When I pulled next to her at the lights at 15th and Central I noticed that she was also smoking too. She was so involved in her conversation that she failed to notice the RCMP cruiser behind her. Pretty certain that the officer was to engrossed with his computer to see what was going on in front of him. With things like this going on around us all, its a bloody wonder that more people aren’t getting killed on our roads!
So theres my rant for this week. I do wish you all a safe, joyous Christmas Season. TGIF!!

last week coming thru the pine pass, it was getting slick. coming out of the pass, saw a line up of vehicles doing under 100, likely in the 95 range. So I backed off, down to 90 let the vehicles get past me, so I can drive with the highbeams. Worked out great. had no one behind me for most of the way home, and didn’t have to drive too much with the low beams in billowing snow.

Too funny Hammer24, if you are turning right on to any street you have to yield to all traffic regardless of which lane they are in (with the exception of 4 way stops). Case in point east and west Central, turning left on to 15th – say and you have to get to West Central but can’t because some bonehead won’t yield while turning right off the highway on to 15th. If the through lane has a red light then you must come to a complete stop while turning right, some jurisdictions love this one for tickets.

My beef in PG is Carney. Who designed the turning lanes off that street?

While I agree that it’s foolish and unsafe to cross a bunch of lanes while turning left, the left turner actually has the right of way in that scenario, and were you to turn right at the same time and get in an accident with them, you would be at fault – even if you stuck to your curb lane and they cut you off.

every morning I have to try and merge off Queensway onto Hwy97 South – the merge only works if the traffic on Hwy 97 moves into the left lane as everyone is doing well over the speed limit and it is not safe for us to merge. I have a 10 yr old daughter in the back and my concern is for our safety and not the bozos behind me or the ones coming at me, if I have to stop and wait 5 seconds more, so be it! Common courtesy is to move over and let us merge but that rarely happens or the fact that it is sometimes bumper to bumper big rigs and I am not going to try and squeeze in between them. Just wait and then everyone is safe.

There are probably only three or four merge lanes in the City most of the so called merge lanes are just to short for a proper merge. So don’t confuse merge with yield as that is what most of your merge lanes are.

The merge lane has to be long enough to go from stop to the posted speed on the street that your merging into.

So I think I came up with a solution to the missing women’s issue. The problem seems to be women need to get places and hitchhiking is the mode of travel. Predators, aware of this, find them easy prey, because they willingly get in the vehicle. Kind of like the deer jumping in the back of the hunters truck. Though no solution is 100%, I think this comes pretty close.

We form a B.C. Highway Patrol whose sole responsibility is patrolling the rural highway system. They are police, but they don’t give a crap about any federal law enforcement, all they do is patrol, write tickets. But, they must patrol at one hour intervals at a minimum.

We make hitchhiking a traffic offense. This gives them authority that when they see a women hitchhiking, to stop, get her name, put her in the car, and give her a voucher for the greyhound bus, and they transport her to the bus station.

Benefit 1, we remove the prey from the predator’s grasp, and benefit 2, the predator’s chance of being caught increase, and bonus benefit 3, maybe some civility will return to our highways when people realize there’s a real chance of getting caught. How much will this cost. Well, hopefully we can do it with a 60 member force, at say $200,000 per member with car (they can share cars). It’s about 12 million a year, which likely can be funded with ticket revenue.

And frankly, the cost of these inquiries, investigations, etc., are getting up there.

Sooo the ladies hitchhiking fund the system with the tickets they get for hitchhiking?

Greyhound has reduced service due to lack of ridership and there are few bus depots as such.

I also am discussed with the media. Specially CBC. The CBC is obviously protecting Trudeau and his agenda, because they are at the public teet. It would be nice if those merge lanes worked better and it would also be nice if other vehicles let you merge, but honking at the person if front of you doesn’t help, I move even slower when someone honks at me.
Leave for work a bit earlier and maybe you won’t rush someone to make a bad decision to pull out when they shouldn’t.

Sorry seamutt, wasn’t clear on that point. I meant make it an offense so you could have a legal reason to get them into the patrol car and to a bus. Not to actually give them a ticket. You see, the wonderful civil liberties people would start a charter challenge if the police started questioning and detaining hitchhikers and then taking them to the bus depot. They need a legal reason. I was thinking ticket revenue from the butthead drivers out there whom the highway patrol would also be able to have short but productive conversations.

Again, I didn’t say it was a perfect solution, but it would help. But then again, maybe we blow a 100 million talking about it. At least the optics are good, and lots of FN people and fn and non fn lawyers will get to stay in hotels and eat meals in restaurants while nothing ever get’s done.

Now a driving observation

Short time ago I finished an extended drive through the western states and the drivers are a lot more professional and law abiding than north of the border, speed limits nailed. Down south I also saw a more cops and radar on the road which may have a lot to do with it. Also since most law administration down south are elected maybe the law tends to listen more to stay in office.

The way a merge works is the traffic on the highway allows the merging vehicle to merge into traffic if that vehicle is ahead of them, if the merging vehicle is behind the vehicle on the highway then they must slow and merge in behind. It is as simple as that. To stop in a merge lane just puts everyones life at risk because when I see that happen I really don’t know what that persons ententions are because I have seen merging vehicles that have excessively slowed or stopped decide at the last second to try to dart out into traffic. So then you have someone on the highway travelling at highway speeds having to slow down excessively and causing a possible accident. Either learn to merge correctly or go back to driving school.

Okay Bent, but, the merge lane on the Hart is designed for a 60 km an hour speed limit, the traffic in the outside lane is often doing 80 km an hour during “rush” hour, which makes merging difficult, especially when you run out of merge lane before you get up to speed. And since it’s illegal to exceed the posted speed limit, how do you merge into an 80 km an hour traffic flow? Has driving school changed since I was last there. Last time they told me the posted limit was the MAXIMUM speed. How will driving school help me merge in this scenario.

Certainly there are some people who do not know now to merge, but the problem doesn’t get better when those you are trying to merge with, are 20 km over the limit, and are tailgating each other. Again, respect is a lost skill on our roads, and the utter lack of police enforcement isn’t helping. Maybe city council could go to China and see how they manage their traffic enforcement and police staffing.

Congratulations to the pickup truck driver who today sharply cut in front of me after encountering an obstacle (a pickup doing 85 in the fast lane) going up the Hart Indy 100 Highway. I was doing 75km/h in the slow right hand lane! A complete no-no, of course. He sprayed me with a hail of bullets (gravel) and managed to put another chip in my windshield, right in my field of vision. Nice going! He was not the only one weaving in and out!

Needless to say, not a single cop car to be seen anywhere! Is there an official with a checkered flag farther up the Hart?

“The wolf is a carnivore, an animal suited for catching, killing and eating other creatures. Wolves prey primarily on large, hoofed mammals called ungulates. In Some regions of Bc, the white-tailed deer is the wolf’s primary prey, with moose, beaver, snowshoe hare and other small mammals also being taken. Elsewhere in BC, wolves prey on caribou, bison, Dall sheep, elk, and mountain goats.

Wolves require at least 3.7 pounds of meat per day for minimum maintenance. Reproducing and growing wolves may need 2-3 times this much. It has been estimated that wolves consume around 10 pounds of meat per day, on average.

In BC, each wolf in eats an average of 15-20 adult-sized deer or their equivalent per year to meet their nutritional requirements,. Based on this average, and the estimate of 2,400 wolves in Region 7, wolves kill the equivalent of about 36,000 to 48,000 adult-sized deer per year.

So it would appear that Justin and his Liberals 1st money bill was sent to Senate missing essential information!

“This morning, an eagle-eyed senator discovered that the House of Commons passed a key money bill yesterday that was deeply flawed.

That set off a flurry of activity as Parliament set about trying to make a fix before it rises for a six-week Christmas break.

Senator Joe Day was looking through bill C-3, a necessary supply bill to ensure the government can spend money, when he noticed it was missing the essential schedules. Those tables of numbers specifically set out how much the government is spending and on what.

Without those schedules, the money would not have been able to flow.

LIBERALS REMINDED OF THE MAGNA CARTA

Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre raised the matter as a point of order this morning in the House of Commons.

“It would appear that we did not actually grant Her Majesty certain sums of money for the federal public administration for the financial year ending March 31, 2016, because the bill was not in fact presented in its complete form, having excluded the schedule which provides for the authorization that the House must actually give.”

Poilievre reminded his fellow MPs that just yesterday “as is our practice,” he asked Treasury Board President Scott Brison whether the bill “was in its usual form.” Brison replied that it was.

Barely suppressing his glee, Poilievre mentioned how the Magna Carta clearly sets out that the Crown “cannot spend what the people do not approve through their elected representatives in the Commons.”

Kevin Lamoureux, parliamentary secretary for Government House Leader Dominic LeBlanc, conceded there was what he called an administrative error in the bill put before the house.

“I ask the honourable members of the House for their understanding in this matter and I sincerely apologize for the error and any confusion that this has caused this House and staff.”

The corrected version of the bill arrived in the Senate before midday, and was granted royal assent this afternoon.”

So glad to see that someone is there to catch Justin and Co.’s screw ups!

The Conservatives cut the CBC budget as follows.

2012-13 $27.8 Million
2013-14 $41.8 Million
2014-15 $45.4 Million.

Total $115 Million. Perhaps this could explain the CBC bias toward Harper and the Conservatives.

It appears that pretty boy will reinstate these funds, even though common sense dictates he should not.
