Province and Lheidli T’enneh Ink Deal on Coastal GasLink Project
Prince George, B.C. – The Lheidli T’enneh have signed a pipeline benefits agreement (PBA) with the Province for the TransCanada’s Coastal GasLink pipeline.
The agreement with the Province will see the Lheidli T’enneh receive an initial payment of $248 thousand dollars, $1.24 million when construction of the pipeline starts, and a further $1.24 million when the line is in service.
The Lheidli T’enneh will also receive a share of $10 million a year in ongoing benefits. The ongoing benefits will be available to all First Nations along the natural gas pipeline route which is planned to run from Dawson Creek to Kitimat.
The Lheidli T’enneh has already signed a pipelines benefit agreement with TransCanada on this project which is separate from the agreement with the Province.
