Food for Fare Returns
Prince George, B.C. – As of tomorrow, transit in Prince George will offer its “Food for Fare’ program.
December 15th through the 17th, passengers can board for no cash cost, if they make a donation of at least one non-perishable food item.
The program has been in place at this time of the year for more than a decade.
On December 21, the food gathered through the program will be delivered to the Salvation Army’s Curt Garland Community Support Centre at 18th Ave. and Nicholson St.
“Groups such as the Salvation Army that provide necessities to the less fortunate require a great amount of support,” says Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall . “The smallest donation can help support an individual or family in need. This is one of the most important parts of the holiday season.”
You can also expect some changes to transit service over the holidays. Here is the holiday schedule:
- December 24 – regular weekday service until 7:00pm
- December 25 – no service
- December 26 – no service
- December 27 to 30 – regular service
- December 31 – regular weekday service, plus free rides from 7:00pm until 3:00am.
- January 1 – no service
- January 2 – regular service
