Busy Weekend for Operation Red Nose
Prince George, B.C. – Operation Red Nose volunteers were hopping over the weekend.
The designated driving service organized by the Nechako Rotary Club in partnership with the RCMP and ICBC delivered 260 rides, 97 on Friday and a whopping 163 on Saturday.
“Saturday night started off slow, but then as soon as midnight hit, the phone started ringing for rides,” said spokesperson Andrea Johnson. “At one point, there was a 45-minute wait. Teams eventually caught up to the demand two hours later.”
So far over six nights this year, 568 rides home have been provided and there are still three nights left – Dec.18,19 and New Year’s Eve.
Volunteers are still needed for New Year’s Eve as it’s expected at least 40 teams will be needed to keep up with demand.
