Prince George, B.C. – Over a dozen gingerbread houses have helped sweetened the atmosphere at the College of New Caledonia.

Located in the school’s library, they were created by students in the Culinary Arts program.

Instructor Ron Christian, otherwise known as Chef ‘C’, happily showed off his students creations this morning.

“I’m very happy with the creativity that they’ve shown and I’m very happy with the ideas and the colours.”

He says students are graded on their dedication and time spent on the project. He adds the annual task is a great way to test their skills.

“We do this because we want to try and bring out some of their skills of decorating and of presentation. It’s good practice.”

If you’d like to check out the display you can do so through Thursday.

I appreciate the amount of skill and dedication that it takes to create these, and I wish the Festival of Trees would consider having gingerbread houses on display again next year! They are a huge draw to the Festival, and are viewed by thousands. Thanks for sharing this.
