Water Main Woes
Crews work at making repairs to line at 2nd and Victoria – photo 250News
Prince George, B.C.- It will be the spring before an issue with a water main at 2nd and Victoria Street in Prince George can be dealt with on a more permanent basis. The water main at that location broke and City crews were on scene first thing this morning .
While a valve was installed to ensure businesses and residences in the area continue to get water, the location of the break means the Ministry of Transportation will have to be involved before a complete repair can be done.
“Because it’s ( Victoria Street) a Provincial highway, there is a process that must be followed to arrange any highway closure” says the City’s Director of Utilities, Gina Layte-Liston. She says there are a number of utilities in the area which need to be considered before the long term repair can be done.

So there will be a gravel patch left in place instead, never to be maintained?
‘So there will be a gravel patch left in place instead, never to be maintained?’
Um, no. There will be a gravel patch until the asphalt plants have reopened in the spring of 2016. It’s the Ministry of Transportation, not the Ministry of Drive-By Curmudgeonry.
seamutt look at this way :
The city wont have to sand that part of the road .:-)
The Ministry should transfer Victoria Street to the City and Take Boundary Road as the connector.
Doogood. That is a good idea. While they are at it, maybe we can get a safe/effective “Dangerous Goods” route. We still dont officially have one that is correctly marked.
Low bank rates, low loonie, low oil prices.. but no more lending rate breaks..no increased manufacturing sector..where is the “cheap” fuel?? Things go up and we pay out the a$$, things go down and we cannot get a break. 88c/L fuel would be cheap if oil was at $48/barrel. Our current fuel prices should be about 75c/L gas and 49c/L diesel.
OH WELL.. at least our officials in govt can afford to live like kings on our hard earned tax dollars, while making bad decisions and poorly conceived policies.
Onto better subjects…It is the weekend!!
Sorry. That rant shouldve been in the free for all..
