CNC Predicting Budget Surplus
Prince George, B.C.- The College of New Caledonia had some good budget news to share with its Board of Governors today, it looks like the college will finish the 2015/16 fiscal year with a surplus.
There College is reporting higher than expected revenue because of an increase in enrollment. The news means the College has rescinded some of the layoffs that were anticipated at the end of the previous fiscal year.
“The increase in student enrollment this year was completely unforeseen” says CNC President Henry Reiser, “The 2015/16 budget was based on the trend of decreasing enrollments and we have been pleasantly surprised by the upturn of student enrollment. CNC will continue to look for cost saving measures in preparation of the 2016/17 budget.”
Despite the good news, the Board voted in favor of boosting tuition and fees by 2% for courses and programs that start August 1 of 2016. The increase approved because there is no guarantee of a budget surplus in the coming fiscal year.
Final budget approval is expected in April.
