Salmon Valley Accident Leaves One Dead, One Injured – Update

Prince George, B.C. – One person has been killed and a second person injured following a head-on collision this morning on Highway 97, one kilometre north of Salmon Valley.
The accident happened around 10 am and involved a pick-up towing a snowmobile trailer and an S-U-V. The deceased person was trapped inside their vehicle while the injured person was transported to University Hospital of Northern BC with suspected back injuries.
Highway 97 is closed in both directions and an estimated time of re-opening is not available. Traffic is being detoured via Old Summit Lake Road.
Names, ages, home towns and the total number of people involved in the accident have not been released, nor has the cause of the collision.

UPDATE – According to DriveBC it is now estimated Highway 97 will be re-opened to traffic at 6 pm Sunday.
