Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Fire Rescue responded to an early morning apartment fire on Fourth Avenue.

Seventeen firefighters from three halls responded to the structure fire on the third floor of the Centennial Court Apartments at approximately 4 am.

By the time they arrived, many of the residents had evacuated the building and were waiting outside though fire crews assisted several other residents out of the building.

Due to cold temperatures, a bus was called to the scene so that apartment residents could keep warm.

Assistant Chief Greg Wilkins adds “fire crews were able to conduct a fire attack and the flames were quickly knocked down.”

He says fire damage was limited to the suite that the fire originated in and there was little or no damage to adjoining units.

So far a damage amount has not been estimated and there were no reported injuries.

Fire investigators will be on scene this morning seeking to determine the cause of the blaze.

In the meantime, many of the residents have been allowed to return to their apartments and the few that have been temporarily displaced are being assisted by RCMP victim services.
