Robbery Suspect Arrested

policeidPrince George, B.C.- RCMP in Prince George have arrested a suspect in connection with  a heist at  liquor store  in the 5th and Carney area earlier this  week.

On Tuesday January 19th, 2016 at approximately 9:15 PM,  a lone male  robbed the business and fled on foot taking a small amount of cash, cigarettes and beer. Fortunately, no one was harmed.

Through investigation, a suspect was identified.   On January 20th, 2016 at approximately 4:30 PM, police located the suspect male on foot along the 2300 block of Victoria Street in Prince George.  Upon attempting to make the arrest, officers observed the suspect was in possession of a large knife.  The suspect fled the area down an alley where a Police Service Dog and handler were waiting.  The suspect was arrested without further incident.  The knife, a small quantity of heroin and a small quantity of methamphetamine was seized.

An 18 year old male, Edward James Penner,  of Quesnel,  who recently moved to Prince George  is now facing  several charges:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace
  • Resist Arrest
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)

Penner is being held in custody at least until his first court appearance scheduled for later today.
