Prince George, B.C. – It was a Family Literacy Day to remember for kids at the Bob Harkins branch of the Prince George Public Library this afternoon.
The Prince George Spruce Kings were on hand to participate in Munsch Mania – a celebration of beloved children’s author Robert Munsch.
The players spent an hour and a half reading various Robert Munsch books and playing related activities with kids between the ages of zero and nine.
“We’re a community organized team here in Prince George so it’s always nice to give back because they support us so much and we couldn’t do it without them,” said forward Braiden Epp.
“We get support no matter what and they’ve been supporting us all year through the tough times and the good times so it’s always nice to give back to the people that support us,” added Liam McCloskey.
Children’s librarian Kaitlyn Vecchio said the library organizes the annual event because it’s always a lot of fun.
“Lots of kids love Robert Munsch, he’s one of our most popular authors in this library and we wanted to partner with the Spruce Kings because they’re a wonderful organization to work with,” she said.
“We’ve worked with them in the past and the players that have come are eager and they’re keen and really happy to hang out with kids.”
