PG Hall of Famer Passes Away

Prince George, B.C. – 250News has learned Prince George Hall of Fame member and teacher Matt Pearce passed away this morning.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pearce was a high school science teacher and former president of the Prince George District Teachers’ Association.

He was perhaps best known for his athletic prowess, having won a Vanier Cup with the UBC Thunderbirds and later a Grey Cup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Pearce was just 48 years old and is survived by his wife and two kids.

The cause of his death is not known at this time.

shocking news. So sad. Matt was a great athlete, fantastic teacher and a guy who made a positive impact on so many lives. He cared and it showed. Going be missed. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.

Almost unbelievable! This community will miss Matt. He spent most of his time coaching or refereeing sports. He was a wonderful man with great integrity. I feel so sad for the Pearce family. Condolences.
