Prince George, B.C. – It’s a three-peat for “B” Watch of the Prince George RCMP Detachment.
For the third consecutive year, that watch has been named the “General Duty Watch of the Year” by CrimeStoppers in Prince George. “B” Watch leader, Staff Sergeant Marc Pelletier gives full credit to his team “It’s a bunch of guys that are out there who are really hard working and we really appreciate CrimeStoppers being supportive of our efforts out there.” S/Sgt Pelletier is reluctant to pat his leadership style as a contributing factor “I’m an old school police officer and we believe in these tips, (from CrimeStoppers) and that these tips work, so we use them as much as we can.”
It was a tip to CrimeStoppers that ended up with Corporal Kyle Trask being named Officer of the year. The tip got Cpl Trask following bread crumbs of evidence, and the eventual arrest of a man wanted for a sexual assault on a teenaged girl. “I was really surprised to hear I was going to be named Officer of the year” says Trask “It’s the first time I’ve won something like this” says the eleven year RCMP veteran. Corporal Trask leads the Downtown Safety Unit.
Prince George Detachment Superintendent Warren Brown “CrimeStoppers and the RCMP in Prince George have worked very well together over the years, We’ve had some very good success.” Superintendent Brown said the tipsters who contact CrimeStoppers “Are the eyes and ears for us on the street often. I can’t tell you how invaluable the program has been to us not only in this past year, but in years previous.”
