Snow Angels Set Sights on Guinness World Record
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George residents have the chance to make some history later on today out at Purden ski resort.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. sharp, both skiers and ski patrollers will share in a cross Canada attempt to break the Guinness World Record for making the most snow angels at the same time in multiple locations.
Canadian Ski Patrol volunteer Kristy Bachand notes the current record is 15,851 and says 50 ski hills and resorts will be taking part.
So why snow angels? “The reason it’s snow angels is the Canadian Ski Patrol is known for being angels on the snow because we provide medical first aid and we are first responders.”
Locally, she’s hoping at least 200 people come out and join the fun which she says doesn’t stop with making snow angels.
“Because Canadian Ski Patrol is celebrating 75 years this year we’re also going to serve cake at noon.”
First established in 1941, today the Canadian Ski Patrol has 4,500 volunteers who offer volunteer services to more than 220 ski areas across the country.
