Vanderhoof Under AQ Advisory

Vanderhoof, B.C.- An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for Vanderhoof, and will be in place until further notice.Elevated levels of fine particulates ( PM2.5 ) are the result of still air and poor dispersion in the region. Air quality is expected to improve tomorrow afternoon as windspeeds increase.
Sources of PM2.5 contributing to this episode include residential home heating wood smoke (from wood stoves) as well as emissions from transportation sources such as automobiles, trucks and rail traffic.
The provincial air quality objective for PM2.5, is 25 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3), averaged over 24 hours. At 4 this afternoon, the 24-hour average PM2.5 concentration in Vanderhoof was 31.
